I recently stumbled upon the "13 Fallen Stars" timeline on the althistory wiki. In this, the United States fall apart shortly after the country's formation. One of the states created that way is the Commonwealth of Virginia. This claims Liberia as a colony, but unlike in OTL, where the country basicaly fell apart completly after the coup of 1980, in this TL the country is better developed due to varying influences from the other American Republics and ongoing support by Virginia, the coup is crushed and the country is slowly overcoming it's ethnical devide.

This inspired me to do this little thing It's still a bit unclean though.
