Description
In 1807, after the assasination of Emperor Jacques I., Haiti split into two seperate states. The northern part first became an authoritarian republic under Henri Christophe, Jacques I. chief commander. He had succeeded Jaqcues I. as head of state of Haiti, but had no real political power. He had created the State of Haiti (northern Haiti) as a reaction to this "problem". In 1811 he finaly had himself crowned King and transformed the State of Haiti into the Kingdom of Haiti, which lasted until Henri's suicide in 1820, when the two parts were reunited. These are the national coats of arms of both the State of Haiti (left) and the Kingdom of Haiti (right),
