Cynder came from the same batch of eggs as Spyro. She was captured by the Gnorcs and corrupted to be Gnasty's main general, becoming the terror of the skies. It wasn't until she was defeated by Spyro that Cynder was freed from her dark influence. Despite never truly holding any evil in her heart, she would become a shy, reserved and distant due to her guilt over what she has done.
