Description
HISTORY
Chuck’s character and design has changed a lot threw out the years. So much so, that the character of Chuck nowadays is pretty much a completely different character.

While I’m fine with modern Chuck, there’s no doubt in my mind that the original Chuck E, from the opening of the restaurants in 1977, is more characterized and unique from his recognizable peers.

Chucks character back then was wise cracking, and kinda mean to be honest. He acted like a rat, and wasn’t afraid to pull his teeth and tell the others off when their acting like idiots. He also smoked, which gave him an adult edge.

CHARACTER DESIGN
I love the characters design as well, not so much with the animatronics or costumes (although the articulated costume used in the commercials is pretty sweet), but with the 2D promotion art that was used.

I wanted to use the more cartoony hand gestures, to heighten his energy (and maybe improve my way of drawing hands.)
I shrunk his belly and made his legs taller for more cartoony movement.
His head keep some of the features from his original, manly the snot and thick eyebrows. His eyes are still close together, but are much larger. I also made his ears bigger and applied hair (it’s a stylistic choice)

He has two various, normal red vest, yellow under vest, a red bow tie, and a red derby hat. His tuxedo is black with gold pallets, same red hat, tap dancing shoes, a black bow tie, and white gloves.

PERSONALITY/BACKSTORY
His personality is much like his original, just expanded. He’s cocky and over confident in his abilities, and is short tempered. He’s a jerk to his friends, but only to keep them from ruining everything. Chuck is embracive and cunning, he’s a likable thug, with little control over a gang of idiots. While cruel and demeaning, Chuck is keen on a child’s happiness, and will do ANYTHING to do so.

Once an orphan, abandoned at birth, Chuck was often frustrated with himself, not even know his own date of birth. The only thing that kept him happy was making other happy, so much so, he started a restaurant around it. Though it wasn’t an easy accomplishment. But even with his flaws, he’s surrounded by friends that love and care about him, even if he doesn’t fully see it.

EVERYTHING ELSE
His voice would also be provided by his original, John Widelock, who was perfect for the character and is in my opinion, the best Chuck.

Along with that, his smoking habits would still be part of his character.

I don’t know why I’m so fascinated with the brand Chuck E. Cheese? It’s a part of my childhood, and to see it currently being bastardized with 2.0, is frankly disgusting, and disgraceful to the people who grew up with it, even from its very inception.
