Description
A new engine was to arrive on Sodor, the other engines were thrilled. “I hope she’s nice” puffed Emily. “I hope she’s strong” chuffed Henry. The engine had arrived, she was very big and very shiny, the engine had come to the island of Sodar to help out with the goods work. When she arrived, she was given a great welcome, by the other engines. “You look very strong” peeped Percy. “And reliable” added Thomas.
Gordon smiled too, but not for long. “So where do I sleep?” Rebecca asked. “You’ll be resting at Tidmouth, until we can find you a proper shed” stated the Fat Controller. “Tidmouth?” Rebecca thought, “but sir, I can’t sleep in a mouth, what if it eats me?”
The Fat Controller laughed, and Edward showed Rebecca to the sheds. “Not so bright” Gordon muttered. “She could just be joking” Henry puffed, and other engines agreed so to.
That night, Emily had sleep at Knapford sheds, “I’ll be fine, you guys just get to know Rebecca” she puffed sweetly.
Rebecca chuffed into the sheds, very excitedly. “Oh it’s so beautiful in here” Rebecca complimented, “although I don’t see the point of these doors, there no draft, is there?” The other engines laugh, they thought Rebecca was telling another joke. Gordon wasn’t amused, though.
The next morning, Rebecca was awoken by Thomas, “it’s time to get up, Rebecca” Thomas whispered. “Really?” Rebecca asked, “but it’s still dark outside.” “There’s an early supply train waiting” Thomas informed. Rebecca was excited, maybe too excited. She blew her whistle so loudly, that it woke the other engine right up. “It’s time to get up everyone!” Rebecca roared. “No it’s not!” Gordon huffed, “it’s time for you to get up, but we still have hours before working.” The other engines were very cross, but still thought Rebecca was joking.
It was 6am, and Rebecca’s heavy train was really to go. She huffed and puffed all threw out the countryside, managing to not get too lost. She rumbled into Brendan docks. She could see Cranky the crane from below, “HEY!” She shouted to the crane, “what’s up.” “What’s up?” Cranky replied, “is that supposed to be a joke? We’ll it ain’t funny!”
Rebecca laid in confusion, and started to frown. She soon had to gone back to Tidmouth, but on the way, she puzzled her situation.
“W-why does nobody like me?” Rebecca asked herself. “D-did I do something wrong? Did I say something…”
As the sad engine trundled down the line, she had to stop immediately, a coach had been derailed, it laid halfway on the tracks and halfway on the road. “Oh my!” She cried, “how did this happen? I must get help.” Rebecca quickly reversed on the line.
She arrived back at Brendan docks, Rebecca called out to Cranky, but he wouldn’t listen one tiny bit. Edward and James rolled beside her, pulling a long rank of trucks. She told them about the coach. “Nonsense, I’ve never seen such a thing” puffed Edward. “Rubbish” added James, “if this is another joke, then it’s not funny.”
Rebecca scouted the area, there was only one other engine left, Gordon. Rebecca shouted to Gordon, “there’s a coach on the track, please mr, you must help!” “A coach on the line?” Gordon thought, “he and Rebecca raced over and saw the coach that remind on where it was before. “This isn’t good” Gordon grumbled. The drivers and fireman laid signal warnings and Rocky was called to help.
Emily rushed in with Rocky, “it’s a good thing I was in the area” Emily puffed.
Soon the couch was lifted from the ground and taken to the repair yard. The engine cheered and they could finally go threw and latter that night, the engines came together to apologize.
“We’re sorry we didn’t believe you, Rebecca” smiled James. “Thanks, but I guess I’m not the a very bright engine after all” frowned Rebecca. “Maybe, but what you showed today was responsibly, reliably, and really usefulness” smiled Gordon, “and that’s what a good engine is all about.” And all the other engines happily agreed…
