Description Spencer the silver engine, is a very proud steamer. When he’s on Sodor, he’ll out run any engine, including Gordon. This made the other engines cross and annoyed when he would visit, and the this time was no different. “Big silver show off” they would splutter.

One Morning, Spencer was waiting on the platform at Knapford station. He was waiting for the duke and duchess of Boxford. They wanted a nonstop tour of the island, before they left for the holidays.

Rosie, the little red engine, puffed sadly to one of the platforms. “My my, don’t you look tired” Spencer sneered. “Yes” Rosie puffed, “it’s these dang troublesome trucks, there giving me such terrible time. Especially Scruffy.” “Well it’s not my fault you’re always rocking us around like some kind of baby.” Scruffy snorted.

“You should listen to your trucks” Spencer’s smiled, “at lease they know a thing or two about being splendid.” Rosie puffed crossly, “I believe your Spencer? Correct?” Spencer replied, “of course, there is some steam in your smoke box after all.”

“We’ll your a mighty rude engine, I must say” Rosie continued. Spencer just sighed, “if anything, I’m here to help keep you little slow engines in order.” “You tell her” Scruffy cheered. “Ugh” groaned Spencer, “you think flattery is going to get me to like you? Please, I don’t need pull dirty truck to be important, my charm has already done that!” Scruffy was most offended, so we’re the other trucks.

Soon Spencer had to leave, but first he had fill up on coda and water. This gave the trucks an opportunity, as Rosie chuffed slowly out of the station, the trucks began to bump and jolt the poor engine. “Wait, stop!” Rosie called out, “but the trucks were alright set. As Spencer was waiting for James to fill up on coal, he didn’t notice Rosie heading straight for him.

“Hurry up, slow coach” Spencer steamed. James was very cross, but then noticed Rosie and the line of trucks headed towards the two. “Look out!” James shouted, but it was too late. Rosie biffed into Spencers buffer and sent him into James buffers. James was pushed out of the way, and the rest of the coal pored all over Spencer. “Yuck!” He coughed, “my shiny coat!”

Spencer was very cross, but he had todepartment immediately. The trucks plan had worked and we’re having a wonderful time. “It wasn’t my fault!” Snapped Rosie, “it was the trucks.” “Leave it to dirty, old trucks to cause a mess. Spencer snorted, “just scrap them and get newer, fancier rail cars.” The trucks were shocked, they were now growing cross and wanted to get back at Spencer.

“Let’s throw him off the rails!” A truck suggested. “No, let’s bash his buffers” said another. “Let’s humiliate him” said a third. The trucks argue and snapped. Meanwhile, Rosie was getting very cross with them.

Later, she met Arthur at a junction. “Hello Rosie” Arther said nicely. “Hi Arther” Rosie replied, “I’m sorry I can talk, these troublesome trucks are getting feisty.” Rosie told Arther about what happened that morning, Arther thought for a moment. “Maybe if you get them to calm down, then they won’t wanna plan against Spencer.” “You think that could work?” Rosie asked. Arther replied, “anything is possible, we’ll see yah.” He said as he chuffed out of the junction.

On the way, Rosie tried everything the calm the trucks down, but her efforts were futile. Rosie was so determined to make the trucks stop, that upon entering the docks, she had missed a red signal.

Meanwhile, Spencer was up ahead. The Duke and Duchess were taking photographs of the sea. Rosie soon looked forward and spotted Spencer dead ahead, “LOOK OUT!” Rosie cried; but Spencer couldn’t get out of the way. He was blocked by buffers and a dead end. Rosie bashed into Spencer’s buffers once again, and he bolted forward, hit the buffers and falling right into the ocean below.

Luckily no one was hurt, but Spencer was half way in the sea and Rosie felt most terrible. “Sorry Spencer” Rosie apologized, “I didn’t mean it” “but you definitely deserved it!” Scruffy snickered. The Fat Controller wasn’t too pleased, but knew the trucks might had something to do with it. “Spencer will be in the repair yard for a few day.” He boomed, “but the duke and duchess are still wanting to photograph the sites of Sodor and since there is no other engines around, you’ll have to make sure they have a great time.” Rosie smiled from buffer the buffer, “R-really sir?” The Fat Controller smiled, “after the stress that’s been put upon you, I don’t see why not. Rosie tooted and hooted. For the next three day, she got to show the duke and duchess the most wonderful sites for Sodor, and even to places Rosie herself had never gone.

Once the fun was over and Spencer left the island in shame, Scruffy called out the Rosie. “Hey, what you did back there was pretty cool. I’m mighty sorry me and my boys caused you so much trouble.” “Thanks” Rosie smiled, “I just hope the others won’t criticize me for it.” “Aw don’t worry about them, they would have done it on purpose for all we know” Scruffy chuckled.

As the two laughed in the night, the sound of Spencer humming couldn’t give anyone another fright. For the engine who fell into the ocean that day, had return to his home in utter shame…
