So after Disney’s recent blunder in celebrating 100 years as a corporate entity. I, along with the rest of the internet, found out the reason Wish was too terrible was a lack of respect for the art, a lazy writing staff, songwriters who originate from Justin Bieber of all things, and just general incompetence.

Seeing the concept art was just depressing, seeing Disney go from a titan to a shell. Even when the company wasn’t in a good position, at least they tried to make quality movies for all ages to enjoy and cherish.

One of these cherished films would be Princess and the Frog.

For the last week, I had realized something… Princess and the Frog is EXACTLY what the 100th anniversary special should’ve been.

Why is that? Well, let me list them…

It’s 2D animated and some damn great 2D animation that blends 3D animation, yet it isn’t distracting.
It’s got a banging soundtrack!
The villain is actually cool!
The main lead isn’t an “Oh look at me I’m so quirky” girl.
The Prince is charming!
The side characters aren’t one-note tools that serve zero purposes other than “Look it’s the seven dwarfs!” (And even if they don’t impact the plot, they are way more entertaining and lively than anything Wish has)
It has strange magical elements.
The star is referenced and used in the plot! (Which I find funny cause the star in Wish was an actual character but served way less of a purpose)
The setting would be clever, taking place in the 1920s when was 100 years ago!
It even has the diversity angle so it wouldn’t be out of place for modern woke-ass Disney.
It’s funny, it has so much life put into it!
The backgrounds are gorgeous!
Tiana is a Disney Princess so again it hits the 100-anniversary special check list!

It’s just a damn good film! I love Tiana and Naveen’s relationship, one of if not the best Disney romances.

Would have definitely preferred Princess and the Frog to be the 100th anniversary for Disney, I wouldn’t even care if Disney continued to pump out crap after this, as least we got one final chance to see the House of Mouse make something with ANY resemblance of love and passion.

Rot in the vault Wish, is hope you never see the light of a star again.
