Introducing the first of Tara's family line, Mélusine DeLioncourt (original name unknown), bastard daughter of Richard I and Witch Queen of the Forests. A practitioner of black magic living in Roman ruins deep in the forest, she took the name Mélusine and the moniker of her father as a surname while swearing that she and her bloodline would be a blight on his lands after an attack by Richard's soldiers left her mother dead and her home burned to the ground. She would go on to have seven daughters, all of whom were raised to do the same; their fathers, generally hunters or travelers lured into the deep woods by the shapely redhead's beauty, would be fed to her loyal wolves after they had served their purpose.

DeLioncourt is a matrilineal name even now, among those of the line who take their connection to Mélusine seriously. Her rage and violence is still felt by her bloodline, ranging from benign meanstreaks to more extremes like serial murderer, Tara.
