I think I disagree with that statement to an extent. Those ignorant of the pain endured, or strength involved in overcoming, would likely feel indifferent to the whole scenario. No, those who would revel in others' misery like that have felt that pain. But they were unable to overcome it, either fully or partially. And their criticisms of others in the same scenario is their way of deflecting from, while also cementing, the fact that they couldn't find that strength in whatever moment they needed it. And so they laugh, because misery loves company. And also because if they didn't, likely all they'd ever do is cry. The heart is an easy target for grifters. But I find in trying to save yourself from feeling that pain again, you lose out on more from not trying, than trying and failing. You miss 100% of the shots you DON'T take, and it's harder to justify a failure if you never even tried in the first place. Putting yourself out there is hard because you might fail. But never putting yourself out there is harder, because you'll NEVER succeed. Just my two cents worth...

Yeah. It hurts to not try, but it also to try. The only difference is that one might get you something. Seems like a simple choice to me.
