Raven from the Teen Titans. Convention sketch done for Karen at Megacon '09. I'm going to try and start doing some marker sketches like all the "cool kids" are doing these days. This is one of my first attempts.Related content

As a teenager, while my girl friends were reading romance novels, I was reading this series. The Teen Titans... *sigh* nostalgy... But Raven was never that gorgeous in the old days!

Very nice composition and tone work with this piece! What markers are you using (and are they archival)? Most of the time if I do anything with markers the intensity fades over time. Are these ink based to keep that from happening?

I used to watch Teen Titans years ago and Raven was my favorite. ^.^
Lovely job. Markers aren't my favorite choice of coloring/shading but I think it looks great.

Why does this look familiar? I know I've seen the pose before. Either another comic book female or maybe a work by Vallejo or Royo. The lines look too perfect for a first attempt. I used reference for my comic book looking work. So please. Tell us what you referenced here. The background, hands and cowl have been changed from the original, but he doesn't look like a teen with those hips. I'll hunt around the internet for the original piece. I'm pretty sure this is a drawing that references that.
