Description This is the very first birthday present I made for my wife. I told her I made her a gift out of two sticks and a rock which is basically what it is. I added plumbers putty and super sculpey in places as well. I want to do this in bronze as a large tree, maybe 10-12 feet tall. Right now it's only 8 inches tall. I try to collect cool rocks, sticks and bones whenever we go hiking. They're always fascinating to me. My parents instilled in me an appreciation and love for nature at an early age. It was a tradition, every Sunday,to get let loose in the woods to go exploring and it was the best thing they could have ever done for me.

Thanks! You would have a blast sculpting...If you can draw, you can sculpt...that's all there is to it.
If you get a chance, check out [link]
It's the foundry I worked at for 6 1/2 years...click on the video and it shows you the whole process...pretty amazing.
The whole bronze process is pretty labor intensive, but the foundry is the one that does all the work. I still color my own stuff though...
You can sculpt your original out of anything and then get it molded and hand over the mold to them....They take it from there.
thanks again!
Take care

You bet...check out [link]
I use their casting resin and molding products. They also have some basic tutorials that are really helpful....
Fair warning...this is very addictive and you may never be able to shake the sculpting habit...lol
There are quite a few good tutorials out there. Check out my buddy John Brown's dvd's. One is specifically on mold making...I'll try to find out where his dvd's are sold...Good luck!

Awesome I'll have to start making MY own action figures for now on lol. Although this site didn't really seem to address making sculptures as a whole. Which is what I really want help on. I don't want to start making something and then find out, "that's not how you do it", or "there was an easier way to do it." But ya that kinda answers my question on mold type stuff.

I really like how in the upper photo, it looks like the skull to the right is spewing a liquid-metal-projectile from it's mouth
