I couldn't resist, I had to do this character.

Duncan is without a doubt my favorite narrow gauge engine in the series. He is the one with the attitude. Cynical, grumpy and always complaining. (Heck, I can relate to him very much.) He's just plain fun to watch and it's very enjoyable to see him get his comeuppance. Obviously classic series was his best time because all of his episodes were great. (With the exception of "Trusty Rusty" from Season 7 where he is more idiotic then usual.) I don't actually have much to say about him as Duncan was handled well throughout the whole show.

In the later model series, he is probably the only narrow gauge engine who remained himself, while pretty much everyone else regressed. (Probably because unlike them, he was already portrayed as an idiot to begin with.) In fact, I'd say alongside Gordon and James, Duncan was the highlight of the later model era and one of the most consistently well written characters. Even the CGI series handled him fairly well. He only had two episodes in Season 18 and it's a shame he didn't do anything afterwards, but both of his episodes were good. I think it was pretty enjoyable watching Duncan dealing with a passenger who is just as grumpy as himself. It's also quite a shame Duncan has probably the worst render of the CGI series, but people already talked about that.

Despite that, Duncan is a very fun character and I'd rather not imagine the show without him.
