Did you know when a whale carcass washes up onto a beach thereβs a real risk of the dead animal exploding.
As bacteria break down the internal organs gases build up within the whaleβs thick blubbery skin. The build up worsens should the corpse wash ashore because the whaleβs body mass forces the orifices shut. Preventing the gas from seeping out and causing buildup.Β
