Here’s my crit.
The raptor is nice drawn however I feel like you could use more hard/textured brushes to keep the texture interesting. Maybe you can also through it more (subtle) colors to increase the contrast. It’ll also be great to consider a light source. Maybe add in a moon for the light source. As for the background, you should decrease the size of the stars and actually erase some of them. You could definitely play with the opacity and use a gradient for the night sky. The background could use harder/textured brushes and be painted, in a more painterly style. The single color gradient on the tree doesn’t work. You should use different shades and color to capture the likeness of the tree. Add in some darker browns, red, and blues (if you’re going to consider a light source). I’m gonna mention it again, considering a light source is going to dramatically increase the quality of work – bringing in contrast, however, you’re going to make major changes to the piece with that implemented. The weeds should be added into the foreground and be more dense – to a point where the ‘grass’ background is entirely covered. Again add in different colors and textures to keep it interesting, i.e. blues, darker greens, lighter greens, yellows, etc. Experiment with different brushes. Trust me.

Thanks for the critique.
The raptor has a lot of detail and texture if you zoom in. I am trying to make the raptor accurate as possible. What do you mean by subtle?
I will probably add a moon, thanks for convincing me to do that. I will try to make the stars smaller. I am trying to make the whole thing realistic, so I kind of don't want to add any painter-style strokes.
Yes I'm very bad at trees. I will work on it
Different colors of fern-grass is a good idea. I will try that
Overall, thanks

Hoi, I'm here from ProjectComment
I felt like the person to discuss this piece simply because I love and draw raptors myself. I could spend my whole time speaking about the pros, but since you wanna improve, It'll be mostly cons, which does not mean the piece is bad. I like it, still, there is room for improvement:
COMPOSITION
This is your weak point, or at least it seems so. The main subject of the image should always be placed either in the middle of the piece or in one of the thirds, but since you put it to the side, the sky is what gets our attention first, even though it should be the background. Putting the raptor in the middle would make the piece look better and more clear, as now, it looks like he's peeking into the image. If he's soaring from a branch, make that visible too! Maybe make it a forest and have the raptor jump from one side of the image to the other? There are so many options to better express what you're looking for!
COLOUR AND SHADING:
The colours on this raptor are quite dull. Why? You can imagine the raptor however you wish, and since they had feathers like birds, you have reason to compare them to them, and birds have a lot of amazingly interesting coat patterns, even when working with browns. The shading is ok, but it could be more interesting. As a side note, eyes are usually not covered with feathers as you made it seem, that would make everything harder to see for the raptor.
BACKGROUND:
Since you put the main character to the left, the background took its place as the main focus of the image. And, with all due respect, it's pretty boring. Look up some cloud pictures, why make them even through the sky when you can transform them into a million different compositions! Also, I'd suggest you shade them with a light bluish grey, they look like smoke and not clouds.
ADDITIONAL ADVICE:
I don't know what program you were drawing this in, but it definitely doesn't do you justice. I suggest you try out Krita, which is not the best but still a great free program, and more than enough for now. I suggest you look a bit into using layers and masks to help you.
I hope you got something out of the critique, and I'm interested in what steps you're taking next. Keep up the good work!

I want people to search for the raptor. I will replace the clouds with something more interesting, too, and make the raptor kinda camouflage. Also, I don't really understand what u mean by making them look like smoke because the clouds aren't smoke. I could make a fire below though XD. I am using gimp, and I personally feel its better than Krita, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
Thanks for the critique anyway!

Ok, feed-feedback!
If people are searching for the raptor, at least hide first. Good luck with that.
They look like smoke in this image, so I suggest you shade them differently, to make them appear more as clouds.
I've never tried Gimp, but it's definitely better than the kind of software I thought you were using. Still, my advice stands. Make use of the layers and masks Gimp offers! Also, if you're drawing with a mouse, buy a tablet.

Nice, love it! Everything looks much better now, I'm especially digging the new eyes.
Just as a tiny side note, is the raptor still soaring? If it is, maybe make the grass somehow a bit far away/small because now he just looks like he's standing on it. Which is not bad in any way.

Thanks you! I owe a lot to FeatherNerd(she showed me some inaccuracies). I think the background justs make it...more interesting. I changed the title to Hunting/Soaring, so it could be any way

Ok, I'm gonna change the background to a forest. I do have an ipad, but I don't know of any free drawing software

If you want to make digital art, you'll have to buy a graphic tablet for your computer. I mean it, you just can't make digital art with a mouse. It's ok for playing around, but not for the real stuff.
I suggest a Wacom Intuos, you can buy one for as ''little'' as 100 dollars, and you can get some cheaper alternatives if you don't wanna spend money. Still, better to just buy it and have it.

I just do these for fun. Maybe if I get more serious I'll do that
