Yarla and Kotsu again heading back to their village before the rain sets in properly.I had this old sketch sitting around for a little, I decided to finish it seeing as I'd made the grass/shrubbery for their area. It was a fun little experiment, the background was originally a photo taken near Lake Windamere by my sister - I doodled them onto the photograph at first and painted over it entirely for the end product.
Borrusk are massive by design, Yarla's Borrusk (Rordn) is male and is slightly larger than Kotsu's female (Saon). I know she/both of them(?) look a little small on them. Borrusk were originally bred by Uru Ruik who were larger than their Saro and Rhom counterparts so they're a little on the hooge side.
Not much to say! This took way too long to finish, I'm trying to shake off the plague, sleeping is amazing but not very productive!

The term for photo+painting would be photobashing in english, right? Is what you made with the clouds? Because omg! These rendering of the clouds are fantastic! You made them so soft and fluff, big clouds and cloudy sky <3 This is very pretty!

I love thiisss. I really love the borrusk design and their size comparison to the rider. It still feels natural, and your blend of your characters to background is really flawless. Just the right amount of detail in both. I like the background peaking up on either side from the grass too.

I don't know where to look first with this amazing landscape and the awesomely added riders. Not only is your anatomy absolutely spot on but there are even visible differences between their riding styles.
And again, like with the other picks, one has this feeling of looking at a specific cultural style or standards. The clothing seems like it was individually designed but still belongs to the same type of traditional garb.
What also draws me in is the contrast between the yellowish plants and the dark bluegrey sky/clouds. It gives off a kind of frosty and cold feeling despite the yellow being a warm color. The snowflakes are the a nice touch that helps a lot to convey how cold it must be there.

I come back to this image regularly and I am again and again amazed by your eye for detail and how you make things "fit" and click together.
To me representing a fictional culture and giving the viewer the impression of it being realistic and not "haphazardly stitched together parts" is one of the most difficult things to do when it comes to telling your own stories/world-building. This is a wonderful example how it is done right

Thank you very much! I'm really glad the elements do fit together, I was worried as most of the foliage has it's own faint lineart, I didn't know how it would work when combined! Very glad everything meshes!

I think that from the couple of images we've seen, their personalities seem to me like, Yarla being more of an independent wild child while Kotsu's more (but perhaps not entirely) proper, patient and hopefully as gentle as his face would lead me to believe. ó/v/ó Wonder how much I got right. w @; Also he's like, super handsome and looks like he gives absolutely amazing hugs
Am liking how they have different riding styles and gear!
Anyway just wanted to pop in and tell you I am loving this ;3; I've been just staring at the foliage for just, coming back to it for days I mean it is so good and I just can't get over how much I like it!

I love Daeodons! They were part of my inspiration for these guys - Borrusk translates to boar in one of the worlds languages so they are essentially giant boar
