Oh for sure! I actually love seeing my adopts become breeders! I eventually get to see like, great-grand children of my breeders and it's pretty cool. xD
Pretty much, once paid; the adopt is yours. You can even re-sell it, but no more for than you bought it.
You can do anything with it though once it's bought. I don't believe in restricting people with their new characters.
