IMHO, Shale is the best DLC companion in either game (DAO or DA2). Don't get me wrong, Sebastian is adorable... But he isn't Shale. XD

I like Alistair, but I pretty much firmly friendzoned him with all of my characters except one. I thought I needed to at least try the romance, but to be honest, he's too sweet for me. XD It's endearing, but...
To be honest, I think most of my reservations spring from Bioware's tendency to conflate therapy and romance. *sigh*

Well, it was entirely possible to do Zevran's romance without hopping in the sack immediately... 
Bioware is awesome at dialog, I just wish it were possible to get the same amount of character development for the cast members you don't want to sleep with. XD That's more a complaint about Mass Effect, though. They did a good job with the platonic relationships in DA, I thought. ^^
