Amber eyes and a smile like perfume
We shared a sunshine

I don't remember her name, and the story is fading
as I awake
But I recall her voice. It was a real voice
it seems to me.

We spent a day together in a fleeting moment
hands touching
and I remember her hair in the breeze

But couldn't remember her name, and the color is fading
as my eyes open
But I heard a voice, as real as the waking world
it seems to me

Last memory to fade was a plea
"Stay here! Don't wake, or I will fade."
"You won't!" I said, as awareness infected my mind and pulled it away

"Don't wake..."

No. I closed my eyes again, tried to drown in the pillow...

But I was awake, and the memory
of eyes
of hair
of laugh
of a life

is fading
