Cat portrait on Scratchboard.I woke up on 10 degree mourning in Tuba City and this strange cat was on the roof of my vehicle trying to get the mourning sun to warm himself. I snapped a picture with my 35mm, processed it later and used it as the subject matter for my scratchboard assignment in one of my college classes. I couldnβt enter this in the student art show because the image was from a photograph. (even though I had taken the photo) WTP!

Scratchboard is really interesting compared to drawing, I've never really tried it, but your work lets me know that it scratch board can offer a lot to an artist.
I can't believe you can get such a glow with those hatching strokes. See this is the stuff I was constantly remind myself when I was younger and in your class . I was just like "if he can do that, I have to be able to do that"
I forget, you told me a story about this piece, like the cat was on your car's windshield and you felt compelled to capture it in your artwork?

I had to come up with a subject matter that would lend itself to hatching, cross hatching and stippling on scratchboard. This was my first attempt at this media.
