Description editing software i used:

paint.net, winmorph, blender.

a collaboration between myself and astra888leddher:

how to enable looping of videos on da:

right mouse click on the full screen video and a popup menu gives the option.

technically, this is how my video clips are intended to be viewed, as playing them just once through is not nearly as effective, or powerful. since the hypnotic effect relies on many repetitions. be warned though. you might lose track of time or experience other side effects.

it's a shame you guys only accept 1 deviation per year. to be honest i don't see much point myself remaining a contributing member of your group with draconian rules like that.

It's only limited in order to make it easier to sort through and find everyone. Some artists are more productive than others, and I didn't want the little guy to get lost. Besides - there are plenty of groups on DA that boast quantity of fractals, as opposed to artist spotlighting.

understood, although i have since left your group, and i won't be rejoining. since i'm not prepared to wait a year at a time in order to submit new work. if other artists are patient enough to wait that long, then good luck to them.

although it's not much to look at compared to the above video, i've just uploaded an opengl lighting test ofΒ the deforming tunnel model, used in these recent thelma and astraΒ animations, before their fractal materials were applied.

fav.me/d7vpn0f

i'm curious if after watching the opengl video, if people can then see more of the 3d shapes in the fractal videos? ...personally i know where the shapes are, but they become overpowered by the fractals, which was the intention to some degree.

thanks healingimage, and would you say that's a positive?

oh, and i was going to ask. what is the :3 and x3 symbols you use in your posts? are those smilies?

cool, and i actually experimented a lot more with this animation than i normally do, saving over 75 different file versions to date, over this last month.

the main aspects i kept rebuilding was the foreground shapes. i tried several variations on the theme of strands, that would join either the left and right walls, or the ceiling and floor of the tunnel.

one test i discarded was a diagonal cross structure, in place of the first vertical strands, that we now see about 3/4 the way into this video.

the cross technically worked, but artistically it seemed jarring as the camera traveled towards it, as if it was too geometric and not organic enough. at least that's what i thought at the time.

i also tested different texture mapping and blending techniques so the strands stood out a little but not too much from the background.

Your works every time better and better.Β This is just perfection.Β I'm sorry I did not answer the last time.

thanks very much astra. i put a lot of research and development into this project, so it's very rewarding when people enjoy the results.

and no problem with you not commenting previously. i've been offline on several occasions this year for weeks at a time, so i might not of read anything until the last few days. plus i don't want you to feel pressured at all, just comment when you have time and feel like it.

and thanks again for letting me work with your fractals.

this is the new and improved version that we were talking about?

i'm probably imagining this, but it seems like the middle of the "fork in the road" seems like we're looking at it zoomed in further. also, there seems to be a lot more to the "background" it's hard to say background because it's moving all the time. i think of it as a back drop.

it's sure cool
i gave it the test. LOL
i was listening to this (i'm so fucking serious)

hi ruthie, yes this is what i've been working on the last few weeks, that and the thelma version:

fav.me/d7vd9sw

what was the video time of the part you were referring to?

but to answer your question: each of these recent fractal videos have either the fractal material being scaled, rotated or slid over the 3d model at various times. and the model is constantly morphing it's shape, so there are apparent changes in the perspective, that should mess with people's heads a little, he he. hopefully not to the degree of inducing motion sickness though. that is actually something i try hard to avoid.

and thanks my friend, he he.

wow, barry manilow? ...well if it compliments this psy art and gets you high, then i'm cool with that, he he.
