Description
Where he had failed, I would triumph.Where he had lost his way, I would find the path out of the labyrinth.
Ever since I was little boy, mazes and puzzles have always intrigued me. There’s this fascination I have with mysteries, secrets and delving into the unknown. And this one place has been on the top spot on my ‘places to be’ list recently, just because of how amazing and mystical its architecture is. Overshadowed by all those prime tourist spots of Rajasthan, this hidden wonder known as the Abhaneri step well, was the highlight of the trip in my opinion and surprisingly it isn’t all that far from New Delhi. Clicked a few months ago at Abhaneri, Rajasthan, India.

I went a few levels down, but it's quite huge actually, there are 5 more levels that aren't in this photograph.

Hey, it's actually a reservoir for rainwater, and people used to bathe themselves here before going to the adjoining temple. And thanks.

This is fascinating, Ratul. What was the purpose of this well ? Was it a sacred bath? Is it still in use?

Yup you're right there, it was used for harvesting rainwater, and washing your hands and feet before going to the adjoining temple. And nope, it has always been a heritage site, from as much as I could gather from the locals there. Thanks odile.
