I know this is a really old piece, and I commented on it a while ago, but I read something recently which reminded me of it. It's a quote from 'Sputnik Sweetheart' by Haruki Murakami:

’And it came to me then. That we were wonderful travelling companions, but in the end no more than lonely lumps of metal on their own separate orbits. From far off they look like beautiful shooting stars, but in reality they’re nothing more than prisons, where each of us is locked up alone, going nowhere. When the orbits of these two satellites of ours happen to cross paths, we could be together. Maybe even open our hearts to each other. But that was only for the briefest moment. In the next instant we’d be in absolute solitude. Until we burned up and became nothing.'

really? I can't believe that. If its true, its the second time this week, i learned that a publisher has ripped me off. Could you find a link to the book for me? I'll contact them.

hmm..let me think. two people meet and live together till they grow old and when they die, they go on seperate paths even though they are a couple till the end.

I got chills from looking at this pic. My mom had that "footprints in the sand" thing hanging on the wall for many years. This picture nails exactly how I felt everytime I looked at it. Very moving...kudos...keep up the good work.

ohh thats so sad!!! *cries a million tears) i was like ooh thats pretty... then read the title and was like! O.O mmmm!!! sadness! I can imagin a couple being happy at the beggining of theirr journey then splitting up at this point... agk! sorry ... it's a very emotional image!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

presentstranger [2004-12-04 17:51:34 +0000 UTC]

nicely done...
it reminds me of "footprints" and I hate fucking footprints. Everybody know this that's why they always send me that damn card.
But I like this.. it's so.. "there youGO!!" two snaps and all

question though... are the footprints facing "us".. because if they are, then it would seem that the two people are closer now than when they started...

wow, amazing shot, i have been taking some sand shots and ive noticed my images have suffered the same problems as yours, lots of noise in the detailed parts, do you know the reason for this?

my god.. i'm speechless..... you've captured it perfectly, that thought that's been running through my head for countless years... you've captured it perfectly... we each have our own path and we go along that but occasionally we meet someone and walk a certain distance with them before parting and going our separate ways... beauty in the tragic truth.... again, you've captured it perfectly... i adore this... thank you.....

indeed as you say, the title says it all. great concept and idea and the execution is great. altough the people meet on their way, they prefered to die alone...I realy like that concept!
