Description
the more you know, the less you knowvacationshot II, b&w + texture in photoshop. I have to point out that there is only one lightsource, the extreme vignetting is a result of the ND & pol filters.

Lovely shot regardless of it's category.
I must admit, I've been surprised to see colorized and other photoshopped work in the plain ol' photography section. How was this shot treated??
If you don't mind explaining, I'd love to know, and you may get moved back where you belong.

Gorgeous, the effect of the LONG EXPOSURE () on the water is very nice. Photomanip or not this is a wonderful piece(but even more wonderful that it is not).
How did you get the ladder to stand like that? Is it burried in the sand?

i LOVE this shot, its absolutely beautiful. and wow, thats really really ridiculous that someone could have administration status on this site and have so little knowledge as to put something like THIS into photomanipulation. your lens could have been dirty, it hardly looks manipulated at all. my god.
couoldnt you change its category back, though?

I read your edit and that is a shame.
I love true darkroom texture screens on certain prints
And they do look photoshopped if you don't know any better.
Also, I was drawn to this photo on the front page
Because it very closely resembles
Some of the work of one of my favorite photographers.
Robert Parke-Harrison.
If you haven't heard of him
Look him up online.
He's a genius.

It's not ignorance that is the problem... but the illusion of knowledge

I don't understand the connection between the description and the image. Also, your image was moved because it was manipulated (it was, right?). Because you're a more popular deviant, your gallery is probably seen more often and therefore "checked" more often than some other deviant who doesn't have the same exposure as you (no pun intended). Though without naming names, I can say that there is definitely a lot of inconsistency about whose galleries they check through, especially among the popular deviants (that is, those who generally have an image on the front page everyday).

i agree with the concept of your pic! and its quite a wonderful photo, it has a dreamlike quality to it. the texture is interesting also, it adds to the surrealism of the image.
excelent work!

"*edit: Both 'daydreamer' & 'the enlightened' photos has been relocated to the photomanipulation category by a devART admin. It sickens me how shallow the photographic knowledge is in this particular admin. 95% of all the photos I see on devART has been manipulated to a greater extend than those two images. I wonder if this admin has even heard of 'long exposure' and what it does to water. Or knows how easy it is to texturize a photo in traditional darkroom. Gahhh, devART is going down the toilet...*"
^^yeah, i hear ya. this photo definitely doesn't belong in photomanipulations.

its photoshop, its photomanipulation. why not do it in the darkroom for real if the admins bother you? don't get me wrong, i really like the image, and thought it was darkroom at first, and was dissapointed when i saw the enlarged view and te explanation and found out it was photoshop.

Because of the abstract feeling of the sea, it appears that the ladder is resting upon a solid object. Cool!
