Description
The superstar amongst staircases, the vatikanmuseums double helix exit staircase. I read somewhere that it is the most photographed staircase in the world, which I guess makes this photo submission hopelessly trivial hehe...Related content

Yes, I have this in my gallery, too. (:
Anyways, did anybody notice that the bottom part of every photo of these stairs is burnt in? (overexposed).

This is an awesome shot! I've actually had the privilege to be on this very staircase myself and took a photograph, but it was nothing like this. There were a ton of tourists at the time I took the photo, how were you able to photograph it when it was so quiet and empty? Was it luck?

It does pop up around these parts quite a bit, but this is a very nice capture of that famous spiral - love that dark seeping shading and the green tinge to the highlight
It's a bitch to walk down in heels, let me tell you

hey... i have a shot almost exactly like this, minus the surreality. my favourite part is how shallow each individual stair is: looking down, they look smooth.
the overhead lighting in the staircase gets such good contrast, i think.
just because it's overphotographed doesn't make this pointless. it's your take on something old: kind of like doing a cover of the beatle's "yesterday." everyone's done it, only a few do it well.

There is a picture of that staircase on the cover of my old college calculus book, although I would argue that your shot is much nicer!

It does turn quite into a cliche, however it is quite impossible to resist it.
One of the best i've been into, with its big rival being the one at NYs guggenheim, even though its not quite a staircare.

closing aperture to 22, using an ND filter and exposing for 30 seconds or more?

Neautral Density filter, reduces the amount of light entering the lens without altering color or contrast.
it allows for much longer exposures during daytime.
