Awesome; I wish I was this good. I use Metasequoia, and I can't replicate real-life objects into 3D all too well.....you, on the other hand, know how to do it.

just created a tiling fabric texture and applied it on various layers in photoshop. No warping required, my UV islands were straight and uniform.

wow that's a bad ass render. I wish I could do that kind of soft shadow. But I'm horrible with raytrace and mental ray. By the way what is that around his neck? It kinda looks like a burn. And if that's a scar then it's to the extreme

And why do two of his shotgun shells look like unfolded casings? lol he must be such a bad ass he rolls his own ammo. Damn now that's hardcore!

The hands are amazing. I don't know know why but that's the first thing I love about this - the finger nails, the knuckles, even the hair on the forearms. Great. The head I'm not thrilled about [it might be the shape of the forehead] but this is amazing none the less. How long did it take from start to finish?

about 2-3 months, I was working on 2 other simple characters around the same time. It was a porfolio piece & main character for mod, so I took my sweet time.

And just one more question for my curiosity, if that's the final render is it composited in photoshop with several layers the enhance the highlights and shadows or is it an original unaltered render straight from max? Because if so it's very very good.

ha no, i composite the SSS, specular, reflection, shadows and lighting layers in photoshop so I can play around with it more. Didnt look too different rendered normally tbh, i just wanted it to shine more.

Granted, we do have plenty of ugly protagonists, they just usually result from Bethesda/Bioware character creation.
