If you don't mind me asking (as a Questioning person), can you tell me what all those symbols mean, one by one? (I know someone already asked you that, but you didn't give them an answer that satisfied me.)

It's difficult to criticise something like this because of the sensitive nature of the subject (people get bent out of shape about it very easily), but I'll give it my best shot.
The message itself is an important one, and one I agree with very much, everyone deserves happiness.
However, as far as aesthetics go, this is pretty awful. The edited symbols are an interesting idea, but they would look more unified if they were each one single colour.
By separating the colours you're also sort of thematically insinuating that the traditional male/female symbols are the norm, and the additions/variations you have constructed are not. If you're shooting for universal acceptance, it may be harming your cause on a subconscious level with the viewers.
The weird hexagon is killing the whole thing. Even the typography, which is dangerously close to cringe-inducing stuff "WordArt" on Microsoft Word can create, could definitely look passable without this hexagon behind it.
The rainbow colouring is clearly important to you, but I'd argue that the message and subject matter would be clear without it. I think you'd need to change either that cream colouring in the background or the fact that the colours all occur in gradients.
Unfortunately, what you have here are people who are appreciating an idea, rather than your artwork.
This is an art site (although one could argue that this is true in name alone these days), and you're receiving favourites for a great message, rather than favourites for a great piece of art.
Pieces like this, while important, are throwing out of whack the whole structure of the site. Strive to create an inspiring artistic facet to your inspiring messages and you'll get the RIGHT sort of appreciation here, instead of appreciation from people who would favorite a black box with a screenshot of Naruto's head on it saying something moronic.
And yeah, that's my (hopefully) constructive criticism regarding this submission.

I created those to express the many different ways a person may express their own sexuality or gender. "We" are not only male and female, any longer. There exists so many variants. I wanted to express that individual sexuality and/or gender is--or should be--the individual's concern, and that every individual should have the right to maintain the amount of privacy that said individual desires. Heterosexual people don't have to make any declarations publicly, or defend their equal rights based on their sexual preferences. My point: Nobody should have to defend equal rights based on sexuality. It's not right, and it's not the point of equal rights.

me too! I think people need to stop being so prejudiced, and give people the rights they deserve. We're all human.

Thank you. I wanted to create some symbols which (at least at this point, what with the male/female symbols) were random--as in, wtf? Just to say, it's NOT about sexuality, but, equal rights.

Thanks. I tried all different backgrounds. I didn't like transparent very well. If someone requests that, though, it would be very easy for me to do.

By the looks of things--specifically, my messages --It's looking as if it's going to be my biggest hit, yet.
I'm so glad you like it.

I always find it interesting to see words conveyed so artistically-- especially in some of your other buttons in which the reader follows the lines of the design through the words. I'm curious about this one, though, and so I'd just like to ask-- are those real symbols of the glbt spectrum, or did you design those yourself? Either way, I'm wondering if they have specific meanings (i.e., one of them represents lesbians, another intersex, etc).

I designed them myself. Yes, it took a long time; but, it was worth it. Thanks for you compliments. No specific meaning here, other than, we are all equal, regardless of sex or gender.
