Centered design. That usually doesn't work for me but since it's not a minimalistic approach with only the object at the center, but the negative space as well is playing on that centering which really helps and makes it right. More clearly, it works well with the background that reflects that aspect of reflexion without being invasive and steal the spot of your foreground focus.
A guitar. The technique you used, is interesting. First, what I see, as the reflexion of my mind, is a guitar of course, also a mirror. In 2 different ways, first the mirror of symmetry of the texture and the styling of the object, which makes it like the stains test from psychiatrists, and while the shape is incredibly subjective (no kiddin ) it is still not quite clear as of the precise shape and eextre of the object, and yet it makes it recognisable. I have an affection with any musical instrument so of course that suggestion plays a marvellous role, of giving me enough to subjectivize an idea without making it innapropriate for meyself to make my imagination contribute to the piece and assign the details with my imagination.
To put it with an example, it kinda takes the pattern of the iPod commercials. You only see shadows but the recognition of "rocking out" and the objects that causes those affects are enough detailes as black shadows, for we appropriate meaning of those shadows to ourselves as a projection of our being and with the objects that triggers those feelings. If I go further, it's all based on plato's cavern allegory but I disgress.
This serie works very well and is carefully crafted. I (in a matter of personal taste (biaised in one word )) appreciate the kind of art that helps the imagination witout imposing itself, and your piece does just that. It deserve a favorite for all that.
On the quality of the picture, I'd say you did a good work on the choice of colors, complementary tints works well and since it's wallpaper sized, it's quite neutral and not too busy, that's good. On the bottom of the guitar on the left, we can see some bad cropping on one spill. It's one that is rather obvious, so it breaks the believability of the watercolour spill type technique.
Great work mate
