Description

The TIE/X or “TIE Executioner” was developed in response to persistent requests from TIE Fighter pilots for a fighter that was as capable as the X-Wing. With that goal in mind, designers and engineers began to develop an advanced starfighter that combined the best aspects of X-Wings and TIE variants.

The Engineering team used the highly successful “TIE Assassin” as its starting point, then began adding features, refinements, and enhancements. The final design featured 4 powerful engines, an onboard hyperdrive with an astromech droid, as well as solar panels arranged in an “X” configuration. The new ship was blazingly fast, highly maneuverable, and boasted a dizzying array of weapons, including the ability to fire composite beam turbolasers. Production began immediately after the approval of the prototype.

The TIE/X was deployed too late in the war to make a difference, but after the fall of the First Order, TIE/X’s have been deployed by a remnant faction known as the “Crimson Order.” The Crimson Order combines surviving elements of the 709th Red Fury Legion, the Sith Fleet, and other remnant First Order forces.

Deployed specifically by Scarlet Squadron, the TIE/X has met with early success against pirates and local planetary defense forces, but it has yet to go up against its intended adversary, the T-70, T-85, or T-105 X-Wing. While most of the TIE/X's that have been spotted appear with the paint scheme depicted here, a few have been reported in an all-red paint scheme with black solar panels.
