Hello All!

Just a bit of a diversion while I am writing the mature part for my J.J. scenario.   With having more time on my hands now that I am not working at much due to the stay at home lockdown due to the Corona Virus, this has the benefit of allowing me more time to work on my computer and that means more Daz Studio time.   It also means I have more times to watch movies I have missed over the years.  One of those movies is The Croods.   I can't believe 7 years have went by and I had not seen this movie (in full) as of yet.  Well, a couple nights ago I finally saw it!  I have to say it was pretty darn good!

Of course just about every movie has it's stand out characters and even though I liked all of the characters in The Croods, the obvious standout for me is Eep Crood:

The single word that best describes her is "Awesome!"   Even one of the characters in the movie said the same.   She's beautiful, super strong, very athletic and acrobatic too.   She has a good heart and is a very curious person.  (Even when in the early stages of the movie, curiosity is viewed as a bad thing).

The animation is great and I do like how the characters are drawn with substance and what I mean by that is that I am really tired of the oversized head, stick figure personification of animated characters.  Only recently have I seen more filled out characters.   Eep Crood is depicted as how she looks.  She's a bit on the stocky side, but has a shapely figure and nice strong looking limbs...especially her arms.  This I LIKE! To top things off, she has a unique full head of red hair.

I immediately got attached to Eep and wantd to see if I could do an inspired 'real life' version of her in Daz Studio.   I knew right off the bat that she was NOT going to be a full perfect live-action replica of her on-screen counterpart, but basically using many of her identifiable features to create a real life version of her.

So I present above, my live-action, humanized version of Eep Crood.    Creating her was NOT a trival task.  While her body shape was fairly easy to do, her head and hair in particular was fairly difficult.

First her body:

Eep is very short and I estimated she probably is around 5' tall, so that is the height I chose for her.   She has very short legs and a long torso.  She has a slightly muscular build.  Her strong look is more that of size rather than definition.  So I went that route, just making her legs look a bit more muscular than in the movie.   Her arms speak for themselves.     When it came to her face, I wanted her to be beautiful, but yet I wanted to preserve many of the features she has in the movie, such as her rounded and wide face, huge beautiful green eyes and lightly freckled face.   I was going for a slightly older look to her as she is depicted as 19 in the movie.  I would say here she is about 21-23.   Her small 'button like' nose was not too difficult to create.  Most of the adjustments were done to her eyes as I wanted them to be very round and large, but without stretching human limits too far.  Her head shape was a bit of a challenge as I tried my best to duplicate the smaller cranium and flattened top that the characters had in the movie.   Choosing the right eyebrows was tough too as the ones that were closest to that in the movie just didn't look right on her face.  But I eventually found something I liked.   Her skin tone struck me as something in a light tan.

Her hair proved to be the most difficult part of the task and I went through four different heads of hair before finally finding the one above.  That hairstyle was normally a straight, but long Bob style, but it had many settings to flare out the sides.  While it isn't 100% accurate to the film, the general shape with the part in the middle and hair to the sides of Eep's face came the closest to that in the movie.

Her dress was fairly easy as this was the only one that I had that had a criss-cross style halter with a tiger print that seemed pretty close to what she wore in the movie.

Since Eep didn't have any makeup in the movie (for obvious reasons), I followed suit by only giving her a bit of blush to show her rosy cheeks.  I also gave her a bit of eyeliner to bring out her eye color better.

Once she was done, I just put her in suitable background and gave her a nice pose.  I also gave her a light layer of dirt on her skin given that she is a cave era woman, I figure there would be some time between (wet) baths.

Finally, this was the first time I tried to do a 'depth of field' shot.  I had not known how to do it before, but I also really wasn't looking to deep into it as I do like to show what is in the background.  But here, there wasn't much to show in the background and I wanted all attention to be on Eep.

When the render was done, I was shocked!  My oh my!  Eep turned out to be amazing looking!  In fact she looks rather sexy...especially with that look on her face.    She certainly exceeded my expectations and turned out to be a gorgeous woman.

Well, as always, I am curious to what YOU think, so please feel free to leave a comment below.

Enjoy!

Eep Crood is created by me in Daz Studio and is based on the character from the movie "The Croods" and is property of Dreamworks Animation.
