Description
The only thing "Eds" that I've gotten to any sort of finished quality that's not related to the movie. Done for a friend of a friend back in Wisconsin while I visited them a couple weeks ago... They have the pencil version... I'm not into the inking and the expressions are too stock.. which I'll attribute to rushing it and assuming that folks want a drawing from the show that actually looks like the show and not just my fucked up weirdness. But yeah, maybe I can get some more stuff out at some point.. just been busy.

Oh wow this is great. Good job! I can't wait to upload my ten-year-old brother's eene doodles. They are so *ahem* good!
He always draws them and makes up little stories around them. It's amazingly great.
He really likes eene stuff.
Could you give your friends a little *hint hint* on what the movie is about? (big sparkley eyes)>>> 83

You know, I always thought it was really cool when I could tell which drawing was who's on a show. I haven't been able to do that since Ren and Stimpy. It's refreshing to me that I'm able to watch an episode of EEnE and say "That looks like a Raven drawing." Or a Sibsy drawing or an Underwood ect. I think more cartoons need to accept a little creativity from each artist, rather than stick to the model all the time.
Hell, Looney Toons did it! Who can't tell the difference between a Clampett drawing from a Jones?
By the way, I am so fucking excited for this movie to come out. You and the entire AKA team never disapointed me yet, and I just have a really good feeling on this film (despite the retarded rumors I've heard about it...)

You and Sibsy do the exact same thing of saying, "It's all f**ked up and I don't like this, this, that, that," when to the average viewer, it kicks ass! I really like this one. I'm terrible at perspectives, but you obviously have it down to a T. Keep up the good work and I hope everything at AKA is going great!

I think that attittude is typical to a lot of artists. Lots of times I'll say it just so--I don't know. The very act of making something public implies that its -good-... so being self-depreciative and showing it, is sometimes the only other option as opposed to being shy and just not showing it at all. Like I said, I haven't been drawing anything solid in a long time, so I get self-conscious.
The other factor is that I was working pretty solid for like two weeks... We had our meeting with the boss and all... and Now that its the weekend and there's no one around to have out little 'ow wow' to figure out how to fix the stuff we presented, its like slamming on the breaks while I'm speeding at full force... my mind just.. I don't know. I just sort of sink and decompress when that happens which is always sort of painful. When I work I have to JUST WORK. Which Im not trying to tote around as a good thing. Im just an obsessive person.

Might I offer you a nice cocktail, a sleeping pill, or perhaps a nice massage on a Caribbean cruise? Geez, I couldn't imagine running at that pace all the time. I don't suppose there is any way to slow you down, or is there? Personally, I find separating work from play to be just too mind numbing. You need a long vacation.

which is how some theatrical movies should treat themselves. You guys always had something over many of these big shows (that usually are anything but)

...If you can't throw some of your own funkiness into your work (regardless of it being WORK), why even try so hard? *laughs*
Good to know you're not completely being destroyed. ...How much more of the movie do you guys have to DO?
Good luck! All the fans are wishing all of you the best! Thanks so much for your hard work!
By the way (I don't mean to scare you with this, but), after "EE&E" is completed, what's next on A.K.A.'s plans? I hope it's something where YOU, specifically, get to unleash a little bit more of yourself onto.
Have an awesome week!!

Yeah.. That's true. Sometimes I just stand back from my drawings and go--"Oh my god.. that doesn't even look good to ME..." I feel like I haven't had much time to experiment with the model lately... since I haven't been doing finished drawings. I've been working more on the story side--which also requires drawing obviously, but especially since I have so much to learn about story-telling I try to worry more about character motivation and shots and stuff than spending much time on the drawings.. Fast, super-rough scribbly stuff basically.. which I love doing. Its just hard (depending on my mood) to switch gears. Totally different frame of mind for me unfortunately..
And uh... There's still quite a lot of the movie to do.. I don't know how much I can say so I'll just leave it at that.
Thanks for the well-wishes and whatnot. Im not sure what AKA is doing after this... After the movie it may be more episodes.. or it might be something totally unrelated. But I'm pretty sure there will be -something-.. and I'll definately come back for it if they ask me..
That means a lot, by the way. If it pleases you, for better or worse I feel like there is a bit more of "me" in this movie.. well, moreso than usual because I am on the "thumbnailing" crew this time..
You have a great week too.

...I just worry that you're going to strain yourself a lot working on the movie. I have a few friends in animation (I've voiced their cartoons in college) and I know how tiring it can be on the body and mind.
Don't forget: BUBBLE-BATHS.
Relax a bit and enjoy some icecream. (Now knowing you're on the thumbnailing crew indicates you may NEED it.)
Wishing you all the best,
~~Daniela
