Description
Me: For this one, I thought it over a while and decided to do a third work of this nature. For this case, I did something different- I added a bit more background than usual. And seeing how Edgar's a blacksmith, I thought what better place to do it than at the forge?Edgar: So, how does this work?
Me: @ Edgar: People will ask you questions in the comments, and you answer them.
Edgar: Well, can't be harder than metalworking..
Me: That being said, please don't ask anything weird. Have at it.

Edgar: Hard to say- I never fought anyone shorter than I am.. I'm used to fighting taller opponents- most everyone at the gym is taller than me.

Kevin: That is kinda awesome. I've never fought anybody smaller than me before as well, fancy a spar down the line? It was hard enough fighting Scythe, I think I actually punched him in the hairdo once

Edgar: Punched him in the hairdo? Hmm, pretty sound deflection, I think- The top of your heard, or crown as it's calledc is the hardest part of the skull.. must have hurt hitting that a few times..
As for a spar, it sounds good, I could stand the practice.

Kevin: Great ^_^ Though I literally just hit his hair, completely missed his head. It's the down side to only ever having punched people a few inches taller than me, took me a few shots to readjust my aim. I'm just glad it was a private spar, if it was a proper match I'd have been really embarrassed ¬_¬;

Kevin: Ah, I see. If only he could break rules as efficiently as he breaks faces. I've just turned 19 so i should really make my debut soon, then again, wouldn't want any random dude facing me, I like challenges.

Edgar: At the same time, you never know if the local boxing commission will change the rules, either. Hmm, yes, that sounds like a good idea. The way I hear it from some of the other regulars here, it's usually pretty random, depending on the rankings. Though there are rare occasions when a challenge is sent by someone who specifically asks to fight you. As for Scythe breaking faces, that just makes me worried- he still wants a rematch with me...

Kevin: Well, I guess I just want to fight somebody my height so I don't look short in the ring ^_^; Don't worry about Scythe though, he only temporarily broke mine, nothing lasting, probably. Hey, mind if I watch? It should be fun and I might learn a few things.

ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-29 20:33:05 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: That's understandable, though being the shorter fighter has some advantages. Though I don't know when Scythe and I will end up having that rematch- I know I've one lined up, as is.

opant In reply to ravenf6 [2015-10-29 20:47:57 +0000 UTC]
Kevin: Yep once we get in there we're a pain to get away from, and you certainly feel it if we get you in a corner ^_^ Also, don't hate me for this but I'd be rooting for Scythe just because we've fought before, so if I tell him to smash your face in it's not personal
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-29 21:03:05 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: And it's easy to go for face punches since taller opponents have to look down on you. No offense taken- if he tries to do that, I'll just have to beat him to that punch- I beat him once, and, maybe once I get back into step, I might be able to do it again.

Kevin: Yep, tall people can kiss our asses Oh! I just had an idea, what weight class are you guys again? Maybe I could fight the winner if I can bulk up.

ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-29 21:40:04 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: I'm about 145.., so that makes welterweight, doesn't it? I think Scythe weighs just a bit more, but I'm not certain.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
opant In reply to ravenf6 [2015-10-29 21:50:07 +0000 UTC]
Kevin: Yep, you're right. I was a super featherweight when I fought Scythe, almost light weight. I'm Welterweight as well now, though I've still got a couple of pounds to match you. Apparently girls like it and I pack a bigger punch now, haven't lost any of my speed though. Just curious, how would you sum up your boxing in seven words.

ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-29 21:59:30 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: Well, I haven't fought many speed- based fighters, but I'm told that the key is to cut them off- keep them from moving around, then wreck their body.

opant In reply to ravenf6 [2015-10-29 22:08:28 +0000 UTC]
Kevin: Hmmm, I'm super fast if I do say so myself, but I can take a punch. I had a fairly rough half a decade so beatings are bearable for me. I can even fight with my eyes shut if my vision is messed up, just ask Scythe ^_^ I managed to slam a few punches into him with my eyes shut.

Kevin: Well, my face was already swollen but I think he was too shocked at me fighting blind to retaliate right away. I wish I could have seen his face when he reakised, or when my hooks connected. They felt really good, you know when you've just got a feeling with a punch?

Edgar: It does feel satisfying... though I bet he didn't take it lying down. I think I remember Raven saying it was kind of like muscle memory. Though in your case, it's a kind of seeing with your other senses?

Kevin: Well, I listened to his feet and breathing to gather where he was then just used the punches drilled into me, I have done a lot of mitt work these past two years. But yeh, he certainly dished out s lot, I've never bled so much in a spar before. By the way, xan you make me a steak knife? My old one is getting blunt ^_^

Kevin: Indeed, once he stopped making much noise I couldn't really follow him after that, my face kinda hurts just thinking back. My memory is kinda fuzzy, he might have knocked me down..... About the knife, I kinda broke it, it wouldn't cut right so I forced it and chipped the blade ^_^;

ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-30 22:30:45 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: Guess there's way to counteract it, then.. fuzzy memory? Sounds like might have gotten a concussion.. Yikes, maybe a new knife's the better way to go. *looks around at materials on hand* You're looking for a knife that's sharp and durable, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-30 23:02:13 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: Okay. * grabs a small piece of steel, stokes the fire in the forge and sticks the steel (with a pair of tongs) in to heat for a while. Once it's red-hot, he transfers the metal over to the anvil and beats the metal on one end to widen the portion that will make up the blade- teh other end would end up as the grip and would be covered by wood to make the handle complete. After shaping the knife, he transfers teh still-hot metal over to a bucket of oil and slowly quenches it in to temper the knife- which makes a loudy, steamy hiss as teh oil reacts to the hot metal*

ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-30 23:19:06 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: Hmm, okay, but I have to warn you- it's not as easy as it looks- it's very dangerous if you're careless.. *after the metal cools, Edgar takes it to a grinding while and sharpens the blade carefully on both sides. After a while, he dusts off the grime off the blade and tests the sharpness by gently gliding the knifeblade over a piece of paper- the paper is cut in half. He then gives the blade a good cleaning sterilizing, as it would be used for food preparations. * So, what material do you want for the handle?

opant In reply to ravenf6 [2015-10-31 07:28:18 +0000 UTC]
Kevin: don't worry, I'm never careless ..... Unless I have concussion but then I'm still more careful than some
Kevin: Hmmm, could I have a dark wooden handle please? How much is it going to be again? *starts to get out his wallet*

ravenf6 In reply to opant [2015-10-31 14:10:53 +0000 UTC]
Edgar: ! * I thought hit him* Wait a sec- I forgot something very important. *he hurries the knife blade back to the forge, heating the blade hot, quenching it in oil, but afterwards, he tempers the blade, then resharpens the cutting edge. He then gets a piece of wood, drills two wholes in the wood, and into the handle portion of the knife, inserts the handle so that the two holes inside lines up with those in the wooden handle, then hammers two round oak pegs in, binding the two piece together. He then smooths the wood with sand paper, and carefully carves in Kevin's name into a small space on top of the wooden handle.*
