An OC I have mused over for a while, something I tried to wrap my head around.

While I haven't figured out all the details, I do have a number of things hammered out:

Derrick is an earnest, hardworking college student, about 22 years old. He took up boxing in high school (haven't figured out a standard fighting style for him, yet) , and earn a scholarship to further his education, currently working on a major in engineering. For Derrick life was pretty straightforward, until one day, he caught a kid trying picking his pocket...

At first, Derrick allowed the latter to walk away with a few bucks, telling him not to get caught, but this kid was not about to take pity: This strange boy with spikey brown hair and purple mark on his left cheek found Derrick a while afterwards, and tried to pick his pocket again. This time, Derrick was not going to let it slide- he was going to report the boy to the police, this was something the would-be thief did not want. They boy was determined to fight for his freedom and his meal ticket, when Derrick saw that this boy had some rudimentary skill, he decided to test him on his own terms. Taking the boy to the gym he trained at, he offered a challenge: they would have a short match: if the boy won, he would get a bit of money, and walk away, but if he lost, his fate would be in Derrick's hands.. During that match, the die was cast for the both of them: Derrick took the boy in and helped him start over on a clean slate ...

At first, I intended to do this as something else, but at some point, I began to see a number of things coming together. I wanted Derrick to look a bit ordinary, but a little stoic, as well. Figuring out what he would look like bothered me for a while, but it just came to me, last night... Afterwards, it was just a long deal of clean up, afterwards, I'll do a color update, when I figure out what would work best for this.

Anyhow, Derrick Mana belongs to me, as does the boy described in this story (gave a good hint in the description, but I don't feel like spoiling it, at the moment) .
