Cinderpelt's place among the stars

Two cats sat in an empty clearing. They sat around a once clear pool of water. Now it was clouded with blood and darkness. One of the cats, a pretty tortoiseshell she-cat, crouched beside the pool, her muscles tense.

"I-I can't see anything!!" she cried in frustration.

The other cat, a thick gray furred tomcat, laid his feathery tail on her shoulder. "It's alright, Spottedleaf. I can't either. There are somethings even we cannot foresee. All we know is that the future is clouded and trouble is coming." The tom meowed.

Spottedleaf sighed. "You're right, Featherwhisker. We must just accept what happens." But neither cat would ever expect what did happen.

Starclan members stiffened, some chattering anxiously. One stepped forward to face the water before them. When he looked into the pool, he saw Cinderpaw, an energetic, young apprentice, scampering off to find Tigerclaw, Tunderclan's dark and murderous deputy, at the Thunderpath.

The tom stiffened at the thought of Tigerclaw. He was his first victim. His name was Redtail, and he was once Bluestar's beloved deputy. Tigerclaw wanted power, power he wouldn't wait for.

The crowd of cats became tighter. Every one of them fell silent. The glittering image had them mesmerized. Cinderpaw had reached the Thunderpath. She went and sat down on a narrow strip of grass. Then, cries erupted among the stars. Cries of shock, outrage, protest, and pure agony. The horror unfolded. A large monster veered sharply towards Cinderpaw. She turned to run, but wasn't fast enough. She fell to the ground. On impact, there was a loud snap of her leg as it was broken beyond repair.

Redtail felt himself trembling. "No! This can't be!" he cried. He felt another presence beside him

"Oh, brother, how could this happen?" Spottedleaf questioned breathlessly.

Redtail wished he could comfort her and say Cinderpaw would be fine, but he couldn't ignore how close the apprentice was to joining them.
Redtail hung his head. "It isn't fair. She never deserved this. She was going to be a warrior, have a mate, have kits." He meowed angrily.

"You are right. She deserves better. Let us just stay away and see what happens." Thunderclan's former leader Sunstar meowed. "Just wait and see…."

The blue furred she-cat sighed. She had just confronted Cinderpelt about her death. She had accepted it bravely. She had deserved to know. Four cats slid out of the bushes. A large orange tabby stepped forward.

"Bluestar, I have talked with Shadow, Thunder, River, and Wind. They have agreed on my proposal." The tom meowed.

"But are you sure? What if she remembers her old way of life? What if nothing changes?" Bluestar sighed with doubt.

"Everything will be different." A long tailed black and white tom assured.

"You don't know that for sure, Tallstar." She growled.

A large brown tabby with a crooked jaw sighed. "Bluestar, for once, can you just go with his idea? Can't you pretend it at least has a chance of working?" he meowed wearily.

"Don't tell me I'm cross, Crookedstar! I just need time to warm up to the idea-"

"And you've had time." A black tom cut in, his eyes glittering.

"You don't understand! None of you ever knew her! I will say what I like!" Bluestar snapped.

The orange tabby's amber eyes softened. "I do understand. I know your connection and how you feel bonded. We decided to give her another chance at life because she is kind, caring, and deserving. She will always have a special place among the stars." He murmured.

Bluestar smiled wistfully. "Yes. She will always have a special place among the stars…….."
