Description Profile.

Geronticus eremita - Northern bald ibis.
This photo was taken on the 22/2 - 2015.

I could stay for hours near the Northern bald ibis' enclosure. They are so much fun to photograph
and they're even fun to just watch. I don't have a lot of photos of them since I just started to photograph
them and my main goal is to get a beautiful photo of them when they're flying.

I just wish that I wasn't so scared of birds flying above me, because the zoo actually lets you go in to
their enclosure during the summer and I know that it'll give me a huge opportunity to take a lot of good
photos since they're outdoors during the summer, but I haven't found the courage to go in to their enclosure, haha.

I've a soft spot for these strange, bald ibises!  Great photo!

You're so welcome. It looks so unreal, though.

another comment: since northern bald ibis are not colorful birds (neither is the background), you can go in black & white

With a 70-200mm f/2.8, you can shoot with very short exposure. For mine, I used a shutter speed to 1/4000 s

They don't have a big enclosure, so it can be a bit hard to take photos of them flying if there's too many people in the enclosure.
I do however have some photos of the wings from behind, but I'd like to have the image from the front. Thank you so much for your advice!

I don't really like to work with black and white images and I've noticed that they have a greenish/blueish tint of colours on their wings, which I
actually like

Like this one? pcolinfr.deviantart.com/art/Ph…

Obviously, going into their enclosure is an advantage. You will shoot easily with a 70-200mm f/2.8

About flying birds, just don't move. They already know how to avoid you.

Yes, like that one!

I might have to go in to their enclosure if the zoo still allows it, since they only let the birds out during the summer.
I have a few shots like yours, but mine are not that sharp, haha >:
