Description
Instead of going to sleep the day before yesterday, I stayed up and sketched this all night. I thought it’d be a good tribute to my dog, Kooler before she was put to sleep. I refused to rest until it was done. Now, as it turns out, the family really likes it and wants it to be the picture depicted on her urn.If you’re wondering where I got the name, when I was a kid I really liked that show ‘The Pound Puppies’ and the main one ‘Cooler’ was my favorite. Dad just F**k’d up the name one day when filling out some document for her. So now it’s cooler with a K.
To my eternally loyal friend, you were always there to keep me company. I’m only sorry I wasn’t able to do the very same for you. You were a trusted companion and we’ll miss you so very much….May your suffering be done.

She passed yesterday, November 10th at noon. She was almost 13 years old…

My parent's recently lost a dog that has been in the family since I was like... 6? I dunno, somewhere around there... I was thinking about doing something similar to this in watercolor or ink wash... I just need a good picture as a point of reference, since... sadly... my memory of what she looked like is hazy... :/

yeah, I used a ref pic for mine too. Two pics matter o' fact. But I think you should do one.
Its always good to have something permenant in history that you can always go back and look at. Memories n' all....plus its a nice tribute to something you've lost. Thanks for the comment and I'm sorry you had to lose your dog as well. Its hard to get over something like that, since they were in the family so long....to me its like losing a family member.

thats not true, just takes practice, you already have the potential...it all takes practice took me a while too. it helps to study everything around you. im constantly paying attention to everything I can about people, that way when i make up something or someone, they can each have their on unique look and face

I don't know what much to say. It was very brave of you to go with her, though you may not think so. You said that she was happy that day. That's the best thing you could have done for her. This is a beautiful piece and anyone could see that it was done with a lot of love.

I don't think I was nearly brave enough. I should've stuck by her through the whole thing, but there's nothing that can be done now but to let that go. So the best thing I could've done was draw this as a way for people to remember who she was and how pretty she was. You only live but once, so you might as well leave a mark on the world right?

That's an awesome sketch of Kooler hun, it looks just like her, its like a picture. Its very very excellent, a very good tribute to Kooler, I'm sure she likes it XD
I miss Kooler too, but I know you must miss her more. The good thing is that she's not in any more pain and she's running around playing in dog heaven, I'm sure she's an angel there

Even if it is to haunt our house, atleast she's there. But that prolly sounds like a bunch of crazy talk.

lol, naw, she wouldn't come back a "ghost dog," but I believe her spirit remains in your house, so when you feel alone at night, she's actually laying next to your feet. XD ....it'll be either her spirit or me! XD

I'm truely sorry to hear that your dog had to be put down. I'm sure that if she could see it, she would love this picture (that and if she could understand what it meant.). It's very well drawn and the shading is really amazing.
