One of three assignments down~

I have to admit, I'm definitely proud of how this turned out. For once, it looks like what I envisioned in my mind. This was the monthly assignment for . My character had been captured and is currently being held in solitude.

Cold stone. Deep shadows. A pulsing pain in her forehead. Rays of distant, frigid moonlight, pouring through a gap in the cavern ceiling.
Cavern?
This wasn't the medicine den.

Jexyn prepared to stumble to her paws, only to have her head collide with a thin, stiff object. She peered upwards and discovered that the object was a wire mesh, covering a ragged hole above the shaman's body. A cage - she was in a cage. Jexyn felt her breathing increase rapidly, pupils dilating. Where was she? What in Artemis' name was going on?!
Panicked, the shaman bit at the wire mesh, desperately trying to tear it. Her breathing grew to a state of hypervenalation as the metal stayed firm. She retreated with bleeding gums, the metallic tang of steel in her mouth, and a heightened sense of hysteria. Stay calm. You need, need to s-stay calm. Concentrate.
She buried her head in her paws, and odd, choking sound escaping from her throat. The shaman's logical nature gradually returned to her as she stayed in her huddled position, tail bristling like a bottle-brush. Think. Just think. A cave. Yes, she was in a cave. How did she get there?
All that Jexyn remembered was tidying up the shaman's den, wishing Rosebay goodnight, and then... Pain spurted through her forehead, reminding her of what had occurred earlier. A heavy object had crashed down upon her skull, followed by blinding agony, and then darkness. She had fleeting memories of rumbling voices, like stone grinding on metal, accented heavily. Glimpses of a seemingly endless cavern. Then there was only the horrible, choking darkness, cruel bouts of laughter, and feral cat eyes gleaming in the cramped tunnels.
Jexyn curled into a tight ball, tucking her tail over her nose. Her flask of spider venom swished comfortingly against her side as she settled onto the metal flooring - apparently the shaman's captors had viewed it as harmless, along with her various bracelets and trinkets. She peered miserably up through the darkness, longing for someone. Anyone. There was a small opening in the tunnel above her that allowed cold, tasteless moonlight and the comforting scent of vegetation to enter - a pleasant distraction from the nauseating odor of the cavern. She blinked away sudden crimson spots that had tricked onto her eyelashes, wincing. Blood. Jexyn knew she should do something, take action, seal the wounds with her abilities - but she was frozen with panic.
Navaia, Darren, Rosebay... Anyone... Please hel-
Her thought was cut off as paw steps sounded, echoing ominously against the curved tunnel walls. There was an odd clinking sound... Metal? Bone? She didn't want to know. Jexyn's breathing grew ragged as a long shadow grew on the stony walls, paw steps getting louder, growing closer... closer... closer...
