Nother' quick Pokemon sketch. I searched through a couple a' random Pokemon websites and saw a picture of this little guy - Scyther, I believe his name is; correct me if I am wrong, please. : 3 I was drawn to him cuz he looks remotely like a praying mantis...and I do love me them buggy lookin' guys. [<3 to Space Pirates] This one ran me about 45 minutes, which is still pretty dern quick for me, anyways. I'm slow. : DI'm curious to learn a bit about this guy, he looks really neat to me. If anybody has any information, don't hesitate to share. : >

*What happens when a Scyther is infested by the powers of EBIL! (just slightly worse than evil)*
Although this is awesome to the extreme, I have just one problem with it (>< sorry). It is WAY too bulky for the character's idea.
Scythers are often considered the ninjas of the pokemon world, super fast and super deadly.
What you've got there looks like it would rather go one-on-one with an entire army, rather than slip in quietly and take out the leader.
HOWEVER, putting aside my own nerdiness, this screams awesome and is very well done. I applaud you. This and that Alakazam too ^^

Thanks. : ) I don't know much about the personality of these creatures. Just ran across images of them on the internet, or had them suggested to me by friends who are fans of the series.
I enjoy drawing them becuase I love monsters, but I suppose I should take a better effort to learn a little something about the characters before starting in order to shape and pose them in a more befitting way. This monster in particular, I didn't research, though I should have. I didn't know they were supposed to be sly and quick, and so I simply reverted to my traditional knowledge of battle monsters, in that they're generally rough n' tumble stamina-junkies.

Sure! I'd like to see the site. Does it have pictures of other monsters on it? I love monsters and sci-fi creatures and I know Pokemon has hundreds of different beasts and such.

here's the page to the pokedex, in the 4 little pull down bars you'll find each generation of them, it only shows the sprites though...
the "in-game" ones... but wikipedia has em all too :}

he's a bug/ flying type poke, and he {obviously} uses his swords to fight. he's agile and fast. and he's a praying mantis pokemon. keke that's all i really know. xD

okies, i am a scyther lover, and this looks like a rock or plant deviation of him. i really love it, it looks sweet, but pokemon is where he is from, type=bug, speciality is speed and slice 'n dice action, and he hates the color red^^. if u want more information send me a message.

Here's a little trivia you wouldn't know unless you were a -real- nerd, and by that I mean you were a kid and watched the series before the bajillionth season. Apparently Scyther gets into an incredible rage when they see the color red, for some inexplicable reason.
My self-esteem just dropped significantly. ._.;

Pretty much all's been said about Scyther. They're fast, they use their sword-like scythes for all their main attacks. They can use Sword's Dance, a move which increases attack power by making them spin around really really fast, and Double Team, where they create copies to fool enemies.

What I find really interesting is that so far you have picked two -really- hard to get pokΓ©mon~ So you do have expensive taste in your not knowing of the show/game/universe. I love your take on them. ;o; I really wish they looked like that in the games.

lol. I'm such a spoiled brat when it comes to choosing monsters aparently. X D I guess that's just how it goes though; if it looks cool, it's gotta be nearly unattainable, just so that you can say "omg, I have that". Hell, if they looked something like the way I sketch em', in the games, I'd totally play em too. I've got such a soft spot for toothy, claw-ridden, frothing monsters. : D

I like Scyther. x3 He has a really cool evolution, Scissor, but you need a metal coat to get him. He looks like a shiny version in red. *nodnod* Nicely done. I'd love to see you portray Houndoom, or Mightyena.

Oh & some info on him, he's a bug pokemon (obviously, lol) & it's claws are supposedly the sharpest claws of any pokemon. It can fly, but not very well, & they are usually really angry. They go in packs, & the leaders are usually signified by cuts across their forehead. Lol yeah I used to be a pokemon nerd. >_<

Very nice! I don't follow pokemon, but your depiction makes him look quite intimidating. I love your penciling style too, very dramatic, and awesome job with linewidths
