Description
Common names: California sea lionLocation: mainly around the waters of California. However, they can also be found from the Alaska Panhandle in the north to Mexico in the south
Size: males grow to 360 kg (850 lbs) and 2.4 meters (8 ft) long, while females are significantly smaller, at 100 kg (220 lbs) and 2 m (6.5 ft) long.
Diet: California sea lions feed on a wide variety of seafood, mainly squid and fish, and sometimes even clams. Commonly eaten fish and squid species include salmon, hake, Pacific whiting, anchovies, herring, schooling fish, rock fish, lampreys, dog fish, and market squid.
Conservation status: Least Concern
Note: This one's name is Chloe, a 27 years old California sea lion; she's quote a performer/show off. I have more of her to show later. If a sea lion is performing, it's likely to be chloe. She'll do anything for fish. I just cant believe I got this shot! Chloe can do many behaviors, but in this picture, she shows the visitors a natural behavior called "porpoising." Sea lions do this to gain speed to escape predators or chase down their dinner.
I will admit that it's not the best, but keep in mind, sea lions are very quick underwater. I only had a split second... and to be honest, I'm lucky to even have this shot. I spent awhile just waiting for Chloe's trainer to give her the command for this behavior. Lemme tell you, with three sea lions in the water at once, it's hard to get a docent shot.

This is a cool looking shot. I like the form of the water droplets and the sea lion.
