Description I had completely different version of this one finished, but then I decided to turn it into some more old-school-surreality.

Is there a concept behind this? Even if there isn't, it still looks very nice.

now this woulda been a great creation if that tree on his left wouldn't have blocked the view of his palm whilst being blocked by his shoulder... too unrealistic for me

I really like how one of the figure's arms are infront of the tree, it looks really neat. I'm amazed at how you managed to make your figure's headless-ness look almost natural... Great job on the crackeling on the figure's right side!

So. Also generell: geiles Bild.

I really love this pice. The colors are very nice. The body looks like it's living, yet it also looks like stone, making it seem both natural in the woods, and fantasy. Great surreal piece

MarcelaBolivar [2006-08-04 01:23:05 +0000 UTC]

good ambience here and beautiful colors.
nice use of textures too. the great element here is the tree on the right, because it puts the whole composition in question. I mean, you can feel the body is there lying on the grass but the tree breaks the relation of space being in front and behind the man's body. I like that ambiguity. I hope it was your intention. I don't know exactly the role of Hyperion in greek mythology anyway :blushed:

On the technical side: his hands. one of them has so much shadow under that it looks like floating, and the other one isn't touched by light on the background, that would be a nice effect

Raventhird In reply to MarcelaBolivar [2006-08-04 19:05:53 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much for that in-depth critique. You're correct about the light on the one hand... that would be really better. I'll try to implement it a soon as possible... and: Yes. The one tree was intended. I had a different version in the beginning, but something seemed just wrong with it. The tree fixed that feeling.
