Description This is a "Demo-Doll" a doll NOT to be sold, not meant to look all that great, but done to see if the basic pattern works. (If you do want it... I still cannot give it to you See... it's my first one EVER... and I stabbed myself a LOT with the needle so it's got a lot of blood in the inside of it...)

Hunter! The pillowcase in the background was done by Ally ( ) for my 19th birthday!

What's up with the anti-Human Trafficking stuff in the picture?

The premise is this, I'm going to open up commission spots for dolls once I am good enough at making them. I have and helping me out, too. But we want to make sure that these dolls are amazing before we offer them for sale. is doing the artwork while and I sew.

Every doll sold will come with a name tag of the character and it's owner. (you must own the copyright to the character, or it has to be one of mine or Allyson's, or you have to have permission from the copyright owner) It will also come with a tag that'll probably have "readptp.com" on it since it's a short web address... It will also come with anti-trafficking info. Sorry if that bothers you, but ALL dolls will come with it as the whole reason I sell anything is to help save people from being trafficked.

The basis is simple! We need a child-friendly way to advertise that slavery exists... so we use TOYS!!! And "safety" facts. Depending on the age of the person the doll will belong to the site they are directed to, the things they can do with the doll, the things that come with the doll will change.

The goal is that young kids can come to a special website I'm setting up and win things for their dolls, such as additional clothes, backpacks, accessories, etc. by memorizing human trafficking facts appropriate for their age group.

Regardless, lots of people want plushies of their characters/friends/siblings/children/etc. so why not offer them? The money gained will help us a TON and the anti-trafficking info we give with the dolls helps even more!

We still dunno how much each doll will cost... honestly, HONESTLY going for the bare minimum while making enough of a profit to count... I hand-make them all, currently, the eyes are all custom and they are dyed/painted into the skin. They are not sewn or glued on, they are custom and detailed.

Why is Hunter smiling is he's talking about slavery? Because he's happy to be helping. Also, because we do not need to terrify children to get them involved in staying safe. We don't! They are major targets for traffickers... they need to know how to stay safe and why, of course, but in a way that won't scare them for life. You cannot make them victims before they are victims, so why scare them if there's no need?

Things to know about the dolls;
They will be custom to each commissioner.
The commissioner must own the copyright to the character or have permission from the copyright owner
They will either be stuffed, beaned, or both. (like beanie babies, sort of...)
The material used will determine price. If you want something really well done, it may cost a bit more but will look better.
Clothing will be detailed as if it were human clothing
We can do demi-anthros! And are learning to do full!
Regardless of what the doll will be used for, we try to make them as strong as we can! Still, if you are giving it to a young child, let us know! We will work with you to make sure the materials are strong enough to withstand the child's play and will make sure that there are no choking hazards
You will be able to be awarded discounts if you answer anti-Human Trafficking facts!

... This artist's comment is way too long. Questions? Ask 'em.

And no critique yet. This doll was not made to be a final draft, it was simply a "I wonder if I can" ... this is a doll done with minimal effort! Better dolls are to come...

However...

I'm having trouble with the ears. I want them to curve... you know? Anyone have any tips on how? We're also debating using fluff.. No real fur will ever be used, and feathers will only be used if we can be sure no animals were harmed in the collection of the feathers (I know a few echo-shops who own a lot of birds and wait for their feathers to molt. Ordinarily, those feathers would be swept up and tossed out, but they fund their rehab centers by selling them)

Also! We are going to see about making full animal plushies... any anthro/full/demi animal plushie made will come with information on the species and a part of the profit will go to helping that species in some way (even if it's me getting supplies for the local humane society and delivering them). Simply because if we're making money off them, we believe they should benefit from it, too!

Wow you made that? That's pretty awesome for a first doll Hmm...to make the ears curve...perhaps a thin wire curved with the fabric sewn around it...? *shrug*

...and is that a cool looking book I see to the right?

RavynCrescent In reply to RubySpirit [2010-06-14 14:22:17 +0000 UTC]

I love my dollie ^_^ It's sitting behind me right now, it's actually lasted way longer than I planned!! A thin wire would work... good idea!! My mail issue with the ears on this doll is I placed them in the wrong spot the positions are switched! Right ear is where left ear was supposed to go and the left ear is where the right should be. Still adorable, though!

And yes, that is a book ^_^ [link] has more info on it, as does [link]

I like what you are doing very much. You said that others are helping you with the build of this campaign. Why don't you invite them to #publicoutreach ? Also, later on when the group is bigger, and you have gotten better at doll making, why don't you make a blog entry about this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RavynCrescent In reply to The-Blood-Diamond [2009-12-08 03:54:03 +0000 UTC]

Most of them aren't on Deviantart BUT, I do plan to REALLY start requesting people join the group!

I hope to do a blog entry, I want to offer big discounts to club members, I just have to finish the new UFO Catcher style dolls first.

And of course a lot of people want plushies of their characters, it's like one step to them becoming more "real" and concrete in some sense.. ~
