I submitted this as membership requirement for a local organization of children's book illustrators (check out their website. Good stuff! -> [link] )Anyway, we were supposed to make one full-color illustration for the children's story 'Boy With No Face'.
Sounds like a horror title at first, yes? It must conjure images of social despair, or perhaps some cancer and leprosy, no?
Then I read the story, which was about a boy who was gifted parts of his face from the stars (who gave him eyes), the sun (who gave him a mouth), the wind (who gave him a nose), the sky (who gave him ears), and the rain (who got him wet).
Ah well. I just put in some robots then.

adding the robot is a really good idea, seriously! i can imagine an apocalyptic story line involving robotic beings that only reveal themselves at the end of the story.
