This reminds me of one of the Buddha's incarnations, in which he intentionally hurled himself over a cliff to provide food for a hungry tiger and her cubs, because he identified with the poor tiger mom's situation... This may well be another incarnation of the Buddha. Perhaps, if you go around enough times, you eventually reincarnate in another dimension, one where there exist cousin-races like this being's race.
