HelloI've been meaning to do some Portal related artwork for a while, i've played and finished both Portal 1 and 2 (and even Portal Prelude, bonus points if you played it too
)Valve released part of the Portal 2 soundtrack for free( click here to get it ), so i thought this was a perfect chance to get cracking with some fan-art
The Turret is one of my favorite "characters" so i decided to draw it as a human, at least how i envision it as a human.
I wanted to include a quote from the turrets but i couldn't decide on a favorite so i included them all
yh i know the perspective is a bit messed up i didn't use guide lines... oTL
*edit:
she is holding a MP5 based on the heckler koch build, because i think it sounds and fires similar to the turret's gun
*fun fact:
her hair was going to be long and oval to represent the roundness of the turret but i scratched that, the ponytails give more personality since if you are looking at turret it has its side panels open ready to shoot you lol
if this proves popular i might draw more portal characters as human.

There is another drawing that shows a 'human version' of something/someone in Portal, but... here is THE question: Why doesn't anyone drew a robotic version of Chell???
If my hands weren't THAT dumb and if they could draw something that my brain thinks, I could do it, but... saddly, my parents didn't choose this perk when they were making my Character Sheet in the RPG of real life...

Well, I think that a turret version or even a core version of Chell wouldn't be enough cool, so I guess the best choice is a robot like GLaDOS...
GLaDOS has her desing and it's cool, but coping wouldn't be nice, so better work in somethin else. Well, you are the one who will draw it, so: What form for the robotic Chell you think that would be more cool? (No, a refrigerator isn't a good choice LOL)

hum... well, glaDOS once created testing bots to replace cell, so maybe i could create one based on her, a more smooth and feminine one with an emphasis on the orange color like her jacket, maybe even wearing those slick boots of her.
I hope to find some time to work on something like that, if i do i'll credit you too.

Yeah! This is a good start! I guess her ponytail (a robotic version of it, of course) would give it more fidelity to your creation!
About the slick boots: Great! But, make sure it would looks like something that doesn't belong to her body. My opinion is that it would give her more 'roboticness' (I don't even know if this word exist! ^^)

the suffix -tan is a very casual version of -chan; it is a suffix that expresses love towards that person, the Turret is my favorite Portal "Character" you see

yeah its not the most common suffix and its very casual and almost slang like but it exists; Most people disregard it thinking its a mispronunciation of -chan but its not really.
In the art world -tan is very commonly used for art of "personified" software and hardware, examples: Windows-tan, Wii-tan, Playstation-tan, Xbox-tan, OSX-tan, Firefox-tan; Opera-tan, Silverlight-tan, etc.. try doing a Google image search of your favorite software/Hardware plus the suffix -tan.

This is simply gorgeous! I love all of the little details like the panels under the floor, the vines and the crack in the glass. Your turret design is beyond cute; it captures the general adorableness of the turrets with the element of danger represented by the huge (and equally amazingly done) gun. Awesome!

Well since it's one of the songs by the National, already released on a CD along with their other songs I don't think it will be included in Portal soundtrack, I may be wrong tho...
Not a big fan of "Science is fun", maybe because I had to study for my exams tho xD Done with that now, I will get down to some watercolours... I don't really know what to paint tho, any ideas?

i did so much research on portal 2 just to make sure i get everything right... it was hard work lol
