Description
I ventured into Flash for the first time. Well, I've used Flash before, but I've never actually drawn anything in Flash using the drawing tools provided. Once or twice in the past I've used Flash to compile frames that I made in illustrator. There is a bit of a learning curve I think. I can't figure out how to get motion guides to work the way I want.Ohh. I think I'm gonna add a monster.... Yea!

Nice stuff Miss Array, flash for fun.... I wish.... animating data with actionscript more like it.... projectile barf..... sorry, that was gross..... anyway, Cloud, yeah he's "emo" cool, Master Chief he's bad ass "cool", Gordon Freeman's got that geeky "cool" thing going, but Link is just the best. Period. End of discussion. He got me hooked on video games in my early teens (mid 80s), and brought my love of gaming back full throttle in my mid twenties (mid/late 90s). Captian Tangent signing off.

The other thing to remember when using motion tweens is to check your property box and make sure the rotation is set to clockwise (CW) or counter-clockwise(CCW) depending on what you need.
ALSO, check the orientation point (that little white circle that shows up when you have your transform/rotate tool on) on each keyframe to make sure they're in the same spot. It should default to the center of the symbol but sometimes when you're rotating stuff around you move it. It doesn't HAVE to be in the center but it should be in the same location on both keyframes.
This is very nice for a first flash experiment. You should see mine, it's an atrocity compared to this xD
Hope this helps!

You should.. Seems to be an industry standard... and much easier than pen and paper animation.!

Ha reason I don't is because I don't have the program and too poor to want to buy it.

Oooo. Your style transfered nicely. With the motion quides, what problem are you running into (taught begining flash in high school class) . Really, the more animation you can do without tweens the better it will come out, but tell me what you are running into and I'll see if I can help.

Wow you taught begining flash? That's cool! I wanted to have a motion guide for the arm, but it wouldn't rotate in the right direction... does that make sense? It would just move up... I'm starting to learn about the drawing tools, but any suggestions would be helpful.

Nisori In reply to RayArray [2006-12-08 21:34:41 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I had to teach it because we had a new teacher and I was in the advanced class, so I got stuck with the job. :s
Well, first question would be, are you applying more then one tween per layer? Second question is, did you make the arm a symbol? Third question (er point really), I would have to see a screen shot to how you are setting it up and then correct it from there if I can.

That's such a cute little flasherific Link. What is he saying?
Oh, yes, and the monster should totally be one of those rabid chickens. Those things were straight from the seventh layer of heck.

Hehe. I kinda think he is he saying 'Yap, Yap Yap Yap'. That is a kinda general mouth shape, could be anything. Thanks for suggesting a monster, I was hoping someone would. I keep trying to conjure out monsters from Link to the Past (my favorite), but.... Nothing came to mind. I do love chickens.

Hey, at least you had Link say *something.* Usually he just stands there while someone says, "You don't say? Well, I do remember.... etc."
He's probably telepathic. That's why there's never a speech bubble.
Good luck on choosing a suitable monster!

i know! i don't have enough room in my schedule to take an extra class to learn flash (thats for internet media design majors), and i wont be taking any illustrator classes (thats for graphic design, my old major ) now that I'm in visual effects and motion graphics, its all about After Effects, photoshop, and Final Cut
doh! i don't even have time to draw anymore! bah! stupid DVD authoring takes FOR-EV-ERRRRR!

I had this crazy massive authorizing DVD error a few weeks ago.. *this reminds me of it*. I had to make a DVD reel and my only authorizing DVD program I had was Adobe Encore 1.0. It came up with this error that wouldn't let it build it to a DVD.. it was already like 2am. I evenutally got it to build and export the files to my harddrive and I tranfered them manually to a DVD...but it was PC only compatible because of it. I was gonna freak if the place only had MACs. I still don't know what's wrong with it. Technology errors... That is what being a digial media major is all about.. *shakes head* Staying up all night to babysit something that is rendering.. GAhh!

I know! I never though making DVD's could be so damn irritating! Hows Encore overall? I don't have any authoring software at home, but my school's got DVD Studio Pro on their Macs, which is pretty great (considering its the ONLY DVD software available to me). I can't wait to get a Mac... really really really REALLY can't wait to get a Mac....

I really really really really really can't wait to get a mac either. Adobe encore is really simple and easy. It makes menus and buttons. I don't know much about this kind of software. I never learned anything about this in my classes, I just had imminent need to have DVDs one day and this is what I had available. It doesn't have any bells or whistles like DVD studio pro.
