I really, really love this - like all the rest of your work - but there seems to be missing something in this. I've seen it in more of your work too.
Seeing the 'Advanced Critique Encouraged', I thought I'd try to find out what it is that I miss. So don't feel offended, it's just one person's view. Might be completely wrong, you know
Anyway... there's something in this that I miss. It's not sparkling, like it cΓ³ΓΊld do. It's nearly alive, only not completely. And the strange thing is, when I see the small view, it seems more alive to me. So perhaps I know what causes the 'trouble'... it seems a bit too much preset.
I love the blue-white part right under the middle, but the black is what kills it - just a little - because of the texture, maybe. I'd advice you to experiment a bit further with this... make it more your own, not a preset option in Photoshop. I can see you can do that

I agree 100% with you: it does not shimmer like it should. It is kind of dead even with the vibrant oranges and blues.
I will keep that in mind. Do you think my later works go a bit more in that direction?

This looks like an extreme close up of a tiger lily. It has a very painterly look and the colours are goreous!

Yes, I agree. I am always drawn towards the textured digital pieces and nice palettes. I just thought this one was a piece extreme colorwise but I like it now!
