And Marvel has yet to do a Spider-Man x Spider-Woman team-up story in Avenging Spider-Man. But I seriously doubt that it will ever happen with Peter Parker out of the picture and Dr. Ock in charge. And Chris Yost is not interested in using her.

Love Jessica Drew/Spider Woman as well. Big fan of her animated series back in the day! Thanks for sharing the process!

interesting. most artists color it digitally and draw it physically.

Thank you for showing how you do it, Ray. I've been curious on how some artists are working on these damned things.

Thanks, Jon. Last month, I would have just dove right in with no real prep. Just start to the paper, but I am SO tired of rushing through my pieces and not thinking things through just to get it done. So, I've decided to just enjoy the process, think it through, and work at a comfortable pace to do the best job that I can. The sacrifice is that I can only do one piece a day (or 1 sequential page every 2 days). The quality of my work has already jumped up. So, late or not, I think I've made the right decision.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think overall, it's dependent on if you want to just go balls-to-the-wall with it or would like to make sure everything looks just right. I've drawn even in 'fleshing' mode on the cover. I think my biggest trial yet is the coloring phase. Nice to see the blacks done AFTER the coloring phase and I can understand why too. I've noticed a lot of times you get artists that will tell you their 'secret' is to just build on the colors, but I'm always wondering just exactly how they can erase lineart so no 'sketching' shows up. Perhaps this is one way, or they draw a lot friggin lighter than I do and that's saying something lol.

It overall looks pretty good except for the sky coloring. Markers kinda butchered that...
But, if you started the sketch in Manga Studio, why go back to traditional media? For kicks?

LOL! No! I had to go back to traditional. I drew this directly onto the cover of the book. I just used MS to work out the figure the way I wanted. So, I scanned the blank cover in and worked out the composition so that when i started to draw directly onto the cover...I knew how it was going to fit.
For the BG, I really wanted to do watercolor, but the paper stock for the cover didn't work well in that medium. So, that's how that got worked out.
