Description Burrowing Owls are the funniest little creatures. They inhabit abandon burrows from larger mammals and are active during the day, which makes seeing them an unusual sight.

I used to have a bunch of burrowing owls that lived in my neighborhood and whom I would see every morning as I was driven to school. Then a storage business was built over their burrows and they left. I miss them... Wonderful picture with the details. <3

Thanks! Thats too bad, though these guys seem to enjoy living in burrows that seem to inevitably be destroyed by humans. These owls lived in a ditch between a road and a farm field...

Hahaha when I saw the photo I thought, "Zeman's gonna kill him." Then I scroll down and what do you know? Amazing shot, really. I actually had burrowing owls right behind my elementary/middle school. They used to dive bomb kids who go too close.

Killer shot, I never have luck finding them down here and apparently they are abundant. Great pose and eye contact

Thanks! These guys didnt live in the areas you'd expect to find them. Instead, they reside in the ditches along side the road in farm fields. Its odd...

Yeah, most people who see them see them on farms or undeveloped desert lots. I want to see one in the wild so bad.

Yea, these guys are wild, they just choose to inhabit odd locations for burrows. I know what you mean though.

They have makeshift burrows set up in the desert behind my house, but I have yet to see one.
