Description
As they migrate north to the tundra, Snow geese gather in flocks of tens of thousands, feeding on left over grain in farm fields. The Skagit Valley is a well known location for observing these massive flocks, not just for people, but also for Bald Eagles. This time of year, eagles gather to prey on young and injured geese. Every time an eagle would fly by to survey the flock, the geese erupt into flight. This proves to be a good tactic to confuse and disorient the eagles, as well as human observers...Snow Geese - Skagit Valley, Washington

So so cool! I had no idea what it was in thumbnail size, making the larger reveal all the more interesting.

This looked like a painting at first, and then I saw it was a photo! You're so lucky you got to see something like this. Congrats on the DD!

Wow. Just wow.
I am so, so, so jealous of you getting to see this in real life.
The picture is great though, looks almost like one of those paintings where shapes and images gradually emerge from a jumble of patterns when you stare at it enough.

This same thing happened to me in 2010 - I love these birds so much, and it really is an amazing thing to see. I'm glad someone else got to see them and enjoy their beauty. Great photo

Wow. Seriously, your camera is one hard-worker. Every single bird looks as crisp as a vector.
And how does it feel to get caught amongst that flock?

This is just so fantastic.. it's hard to describe. My aunt - she's a photographer too - went to Skagit valley once to see the snow geese and she said how magical it was to see so many birds fly at the same time. I'd love to go there myself some day, but till then I'll enjoy your photo

That's incredible. A fantastic sight.
...I wouldn't want to stand under that flock of birds, I'd be covered in... Nevermind.

This is crazy... Like, I thought it was a bunch of bird cut-outs copied and pasted in Photoshop at first... This is truly amazing!

With a flock that thick and dense Somewhere in the center there is a bird who isn't even flying he's just being carried away with the masses.

Great shot. I see one of the birds practically about to get ninja-chopped by another bird
