NOTE: I TOOK THIS PICTURE MYSELF AT COLOSSALCON. SO NOBODY GET UP MY ASS ABOUT MOTIVATORS BEING 'ART THEFT'ok, so I've been around DA and I've sen alot of deviations by people outside the Otaku community poking fun at or ragging on cosplayers. and in most of said deviations, it is ALWAYS som fat, pimple faced dude in a Pikachu costume that is 3 sises to small. wtf? Is that all we are to outsiders? fat guys in pokemon costumes? It makes me wonder if any of these people even bother to look at some of the really GOOD cosplays. but I suppose if they DID, then they couldnt troll about cosplayers.
This photo was taken at Colossalcon 2011 and is one of the BEST I saw. it looks like she really put alot of time and effort into her cosplay and it turned out BEAUTIFUL. I previosly posted this picture just by itself. like I said on that one. if this is you please tell me so I can give you credit.

I so agree with you, it's sad how people put down cosplayers when all they see is the bad ones. I've seen so many beautiful cosplays that were just amazing and deserve nothing but praise. People put lots of work into their cosplays.
I went as Doll from Black Butler and there were a lot of BB cosplayers, it was pretty cool. I wasn't expecting that many.

I know. and I got yelled at by some moron for posting a cosplay pic on DA saying it wasn;t "self experssion". WTF? yes it is. your expressing how much you like a certain charecter,a nd your spending time hand making a really awesome costume. Your creating something, which is the DEFFINITION of art, and this is an art website!

Wow, some people really make me wonder if they think before typing. I know its a whole 'Your Opinion Vs. My Opinion' kinda thing for them. But how is cosplays not seen as 'Self Expression'? I don't think you can get more 'self expressive' if it hit you in the face. It takes people a lot of time to make those cosplays and they really take pride in them. Plus everyone has their own method of making them. Their own ideas on what to make it with and what colors would work best. Sure the outfit is based off of a anime. But every cosplay has its own unique touch depending on who made it.

I saw this Katen Kyoukotsu in my hallway on Friday. ONCE. I wish I'd seen her again, I was in total awe by that cosplay. xD
But I do agree with you, cosplay gets a lot of negativity, when it's just not true, especially when you look at things like the cosplay masquerade walks, where the best of the best go on stage.

Ciel in a red outfit....I THINK I saw you. I was standing in line to meet Vic Mignongna and a HUGE group of Black Butler cosplayers walked by. there was alot of Black Butler cosplay.
and I REALLY wanted to go to the Masquerade, but when I finally got to the line, it stretched aroun like, 3 corners and I was not going to wait in a line that big.

Ah, I can't remember... xD I wouldn't've called our group huge, it only consisted of myself, an Alois, and a Claude... There were a bunch of BB cosplayers, but I didn't see anyone else with an outfit such as mine (wasn't even mine, was borrowed xD).
I didn't go to the masquerade. xD There was a Touhou panel that I attended instead. XD

wow ok, I was 2 feet away from her when I took this, and it was not furry. eve if it was, it has NOTHING to do with Pikachu. She is cosplaying Katen Kyokotsu from Bleach. The charecter is a sword spirit. It has nothing to do with pokemon.

yes it has charecters. EVERY ANIME HAS CHARECTERS!
the point is Bleach and Pokemon are two differentt anime and are nohing alike. maybe except for the fact that neither of them seem to end.
the charecters are nothing alike. for exaple, the Bleach charecters have vocabularies that go beyond their own name.
