Team Splice
A team of scientists led by Blaine. They research the genetics behind Mega Evolution and aim to artificially reproduce it. They have captured the Legendary Birds and created Mega Evolutions of them, and have Professor Oak under their control to find genetic material of all Pokemon. They are the ones who created the Mewtwonite X and Y, and the Mega Evolutions of Mewtwo.

Splice Leader Blaine
Team: Omastar (Lv. 66), Kabutops (Lv. 66), Rapidash (Lv. 67), Ninetales (Lv. 68), Magmortar (Lv. 69), Arcanine (Mega, Lv. 70)
The former gym leader of Cinnabar Island. Following the eruption of the Cinnabar Island volcano, he relocated his gym to the Seafoam Islands. A long time scientist, he secretly built a laboratory in the caverns of the Cinnabar Island volcano to conduct research into the genetics behind Mega Evolution. While this research was initially benign, he eventually worked himself to the brink of insanity. He and his team of scientists, while not having necessarily dangerous goals, nonetheless pose a threat to the world if they are successful in their goals of creating artificial Mega Evolutions for all Pokemon without the need for any sort of bond with a trainer and only the Keystone and Mega Stone being necessary. Blaine kidnapped and threatened Professor Oak to send new trainers on their Pokemon journeys to collect genetic material of every known Pokemon for his experimentation.
